Dr. Michael Lopez, MD

I dont even know what to say about this doctor but avoid him at all costs. I had my cataract surgery done by him, and should have known not to trust him by his bedside manner. I am 19 (was 17 at the time), have uveitis, and needed cataract surgery immediately as it was blocking the view to my retina when getting images, leaving my retinal edema unchecked. Dr.Lopez was what my insurance took at the time, and it needed to get done. I regret not thinking twice about my choice of surgeon. He saw me once post op, and complained about how he couldn’t get the last piece of calcification out, which blocked my view almost as much as the cataract, then LEFT THE PRACTICE. I wish I was kidding. I traveled to a uveitis specialist who was out of network, (who shall not be named because they are awesome), and they very politely said he did a horrendous hack job of my eye. I had to have another surgery.

Excellent check in, and also very very nice dr Lopez explain all good and check my son eye even he cry move.

After an unpleasant front office visit decent wait, and a lack luster intake, we meet Dr. Lopez who couldn’t hide his annoyance that I declined to dilate my 2 year olds eyes since we were there to diagnose a stye. After 5 minutes with him we were on our way with a diagnosis.

If only you could give 0 stars. I’ll start by saying I am a physician and personally dislike reviews of doctors online but I understand that it’s one of the few platforms for patients to get an opinion of their physician. This was the WORST physician I have ever had the unfortunate experience of consulting with. My 2 year old daughter had a consult for what appeared to be a “lazy eye.” Very long story short the consult was not only rushed it was frightening to my daughter and myself. He didn’t introduce himself before he turned off the lights and became extremely annoyed that she started crying. He told me to calm her down and hold her down. He forced the entire exam. She was so upset she thrashed around and hit her head. He called her “syndromic” and told me she had a brain tumor. As is there was no other possibility. No surprise. She doesn’t. I pulled some strings and had a same day brain MRI. She’s Fine. She is nearsighted and doing great with glasses. Please go elsewhere.

So thankful we got in to see Dr. Lopez -what a game changer. He’s extremely smart and was so amazing with my difficult 8 year old who just wanted glasses because they were “cool” but he figured it out pretty quickly and saved us tons of $!

My older daughter has several conditions that have required surgery so she is a bit apprehensive about visiting the ophthalmologist. Dr Lopez was professional but completely tuned into my 2 girls (1 1/2 & 3 1/2). I would highly recommend him.

Very bad experience Not good with kids with developmental delays, anxiety disorders. Very rough. Bad parent bedside manners. Not friendly nor welcoming the staff not very friendly. Will not recommend.

He doesn't have the best parent bedside manner, but will answer any questions and is awesome with the kids. And he did an outstanding job in my daughter's eye surgery.
