Dr. Michael Alterman, DO

My family history includes Glaucoma and Macular Degeneration causing blindness. I switched from my former Ophthalmologist due to recommendations from others praising his expertise in senior eye diseases. I was so impressed by Dr Alterman’s bedside manner, his taking the time to explain everything about my needs and care and his knowledge is vast. I needed surgery and he fully walked me through the mechanics of the procedure and the recovery. Dr. Alderman always takes the time to answer all my questions and makes sure I understand what he says. I’m never rushed out of the office and never have my concerns minimized. Choosing Dr Alderman was an excellent decision. Thank You!

Dr Alterman is a very personable and capable ophthalmologist. He has successfully performed cataract surgery on both me and my husband and Blepharoplasty on me. He answers all questions completely and listens carefully. He has a great sense of humor and is a pleasure to see each time we visit for routine follow up.

Dr Alterman has been my Ophthalmologist for the past 5 years. His skill as a cataract surgeon is superb. Great results with laser surgery and toric lens replacement. He is also following my early stage macular degeneration condition and coordinates this information with my Retina specialist at Mid Atlantic practice ( Wills Eyes affiliated). Dr Alterman was caring and thoroughly answered all my questions

I went to see Dr. Alterman for a cataract surgery consultation. I was treated royally from the first telephone call making the appoiontment with Shannon. My appointment was for 9:00 AM. I arrived 25 minutes early and was taken almost immediately thereafter. Every staff member I encountered was courteous, professional and explained what they were doing in the process. Dr. Alterman was a rock star. His examination was very thorough; he explained what he saw and how he proposed to treat my condition. He further explained all of the options available and answered every one of my questions without hesitation and complete confidence. I will look no further and have scheduled the surgery to be done by Dr. Alterman in a timely fashion. I highly recommend Dr. Alterman and his staff for any ophthalmological procedure one would require.

Excellent! It was my first visit with Dr. Alterman and I will definitely continue my eye care with him. He explained in detail how to cope with progressive macular degeneration and preserve my vision as long as possible. His manner is very positive and encouraging.

I am new to the practice and was so pleasantly surprised. What a great experience. The office staff and techs were kind, efficient and helpful. Dr. Alterman was one of the best Physicians I with whom I've worked, which is saying a lot since I have multiple issues so have seen quite a few specialists. Dr. Alterman thoroughly explained things, but was open to attentively listening to questions and concerns. When a question arose after the visit, he himself called to clarify...which I thoroughly did not expect. Few Doctors take the time to make their own phone calls. I highly recommend this Physician.

Dr Alterman provided cateract surgery to both myself and my partner. Both of us couldn’t have been happier with our results and the patience he showed for my countless questions. We found him to be knowledgeable, caring, and patient. We never felt rushed or that we were annoying to him. The waiting room does sometimes get crowded and can sometimes result in a longer wait time but it’s MY EYES!!!!!! And the office also has several other doctors utilizing the waiting room. He is well worth waiting to see.

This was my first visit at Bethlehem Eye Associates. I was greeted promptly and courteously. There was a bit of a wait but I was initially seen by Amy who did my eye exam prior to being seen by Dr. Alterman. She was very nice and prepared me for Dr. Alterman’s exam. He was very friendly and professional and addressed my concerns. He completed my exam and said all was fine.
