He was the best surgeon I have had. He told me like it was, didn’t sugar coat anything and I felt like he really cared about me and my health

I had inguinal surgery @MGH open/mesh in August 2018. Dr Rosenthal told me recovery time is approximately 4 weeks. I am writing this review on 6/7/19, and have been in pain ever since. That’s 9 months I reviewed my medical records operative notes and it is noted that there was a concern of “chronic pain”due to proximity of mesh to ilioinguinal nerve. Notes go on to say that “What we believed to be the genital branch of the genitofemoral nerve was also transected”. “What we believe” is very concerning. I would hope and expect that there was no guessing surgery performed but the operative notes indicate otherwise. As I stated earlier I have been in pain ever since. I guess now I’m in the so-called 10% of patients who will experience chronic pain. I am very disappointed and unhappy with the results of the surgery. I have pain every single day.
