I first was referred to Dr. Hattenhauer in 1979. I had had rheumatic fever as a child and it had damaged my heart valves. I had a mitral commissurotomy and aortic valve replacement then. He was reassuring, kind, good sense of humor, and a delight. I became a patient of his again in 1995 with mitral valve, aortic valve replacement, and a stabilizing ring on the tricuspid. I would recomment Dr. Hattenhauer to anyone. I was 37 for the first surgery and am now almost 79.
