Tremendous Specialist
Dr. Novakovic has been my urologist for over three years and has performed bladder surgery on me successfully. I see him quarterly for cystoscope follow ups. He is a skilled surgeon and clinician who is comforting and who takes the time to explain procedures and treatment plans. I spent 40 years defending physicians in medical malpractice cases and therefore have a learned expertise in what characterizes a great physician. Dr. Novakovic exceeds those perameters.

Waiting for a call back
Received a radiology report showing a large Stage 3 bladder cancer and was referred by another NorthShore urologist to Dr. Novakovic. Four days later I am waiting for a first telephone contact. The original urologist and I have both left “high priority” messages. It’s absurd that there is a gatekeeper messenger center to contact a doctor—and I’ve waited forty minutes on hold yesterday and more than an hour today for a callback just from the gatekeeper. Does ANYONE find this acceptable?

Still waiting for a call from doctor
After 4 months waiting for appointment and 3 attempts for his office to push me off to a new doctor in the practice I finally saw Dr.Novakovic. At the appt he assured me he would be my doctor. Earliest mri was a month later. Sent 3 messages through the north shore system to talk to dr about results. Heard from different dr’s nurse a week later to schedule with new dr. I didn’t understand why I was being pushed off again. Told nurse I wanted a call from Dr. Novakovic before making decision. Left 2 more messages and asked my pcp to reach out. She finally got through to Dr Novakovic about a week after. He acknowledged he owed me a call and told her he took a different position in the practice and would not be treating me. Still no call 7 weeks later. In person, Dr Novakovic was great and he came highly recommended by a number of people. Normally I would just let this go. But if just one future patient doesn’t have the waste of time and added stress, this review will have been worth it.

Amazing Doctor- Saved my life!
Dr. Novakovic treated me for Kidney and Bladder cancer. Explains things well and treated my cancers with ease. Office seems to be understaffed so communication is rough but when I had an urgent issue I was able to call after hours and talk to a doctor on call. A+ doctor and excellent surgeon!

Staff followup
Staff is unacceptably poor at follow up Facts. 4/7/2022- had an office visit with the doctor.. he said scheduler would contact me to schedule a procedure. 4/8/2022- asked two questions of Doctor. No response so 4/13/2022- said no reply to to questions of 4/8 and had not been contacted by scheduler Today is 4/18 and no response to questions or contact with scheduler

Made an appointment over a month in advance only to be scheduled to a virtual visit the following day. Then no one called me for the virtual visit. Waited 10mins and then called the only number listed and left a message. A hospital receptionist called back and said that no one from the clinic was answering so she left a message that I was still waiting for a call for my virtual visit. No one ever called back to apologize or even reschedule. All I got was an after visit summary that "the patient canceled the appointment". Not true. I then sent a message via the Northshore patient portal explaining what happened and checking to see if there was logical explanation. They didn't even respond to that message...This guy runs an office that does not respect peoples time and does not feel obligated to take responsibility for their actions. There are plenty of urologists to pick from in Chicago and I recommend looking elsewhere.

Less of a doctor, more like a butcher. He removed a tumor from my kidney, told me he got the whole thing, clear margins, etc. cancer returned within a year. This time he removed the kidney. He left me with a huge disfiguring i inoperable hernia. But wait-there’s more! Within a year there was another metastatic tumor. I finally fired the shmuck (after he failed to notify me of the results of the biopsy) and sought help at Sloan-Kettering in New York, where I was told that the metastatic tumor was the result of sloppy surgical technique. THIS GUY WILL LITERALLY DISFIGURE YOU WITH HIS BUTCHERY. Whatever your problem is, find someone else.

Had urinary tract blockage. Went to see him since he was the only available Dr. in the group. Conducted TURP. Great bedside manor and communicator. Walked me through all aspects of the procedure and post operative process. Results were very successful.

I have several small complaints about him, but what made me write this was his lack of compassion. After surgery he never came out to say how it went. Over an hour without any news on how it went, much less if my husband was still alive. He told me on the phone he left because he had another appointment at his office. Really? Isn't updating your patient's family more important? The surgery was late due to his poor time management and now we were in the dark because interviewing a staff member?

Doctor and staff do not return calls or emails. When I was able to talk with someone .I reported serious symptoms and they were not addressed. I should of had an emergency procedure but was put on hold as My condition became worse. I didn't realize how serious my condition was until I went to the ER and was told I had a stone blocking flow from the Kidney and a dangerous infection.. During my last appointment with him,He seemed uninterested and seemed very short with me when I asked questions.,

My grandfather had surgery by this doctor. He has been having severe pains and complications and has been calling for days with not even one callback or answer from this doctor (dr. novakovic) leaving him to try to find another physician in a painful hurry. This is unacceptable that he hasn't even made one attempt to help. Very frustrating for all involved.

Dr. Novakovic is a wonderful physician. He keeps abreast of all the latest medical developments in his field. He works with me, as a partner, in discussing and developing my treatment plan. His medical technique is sterling. He listens to my concerns and treats me holistically. I live about 40 miles away from his Glenbrook Hospital office but will absolutely retain him as my urologist. I trust his decisions.

I have left messages for 5 days and he still won't return my call. I get a call from someone in his office (someone different and from a different office everytime) telling me how busy he is. The individual even said yesterday that she thought he needed to have a CT scan done - but then she never called me back either. I had lithotripsy done 20 days ago. Didn't have a problem until now - and he isn't available for followup. Very disappointing.

I had three appointments and a procedure. I waited more than one hour past the scheduled time for each of my appointments. He kept me waiting almost a whole day to deliver very bad news - and I had to insist on speaking with him at that. Do yourself a favor - go to Northwestern.
