Fusion Success!
I played footbal back in college and it has taken its toll on my body. I grew up the son of an Orthopedic Surgeon. My father always said, 'a back is going to do, what a back wants to do'. Meaning everyone's body (back) is different and the results will never be identical. Most (not all) negative reviews in mediciine are based off this lack of understanding this premise.Anyway, I have has 2 fusion surgeries with Dr. Singh, and I now feel about 100%. I think Dr. Singh is the best of the best. He's straight forward 'to the point', very confident and very clear. He's PA's and nurses have been outstanding as well.Thank you to Dr. Kern Singh, his PA's, nurses and entire staff.

Not good attention
The visit was made for a second opinion and my medical condition was not explained to me. In addition, the doctor was not very friendly when asking the routine questions.

Rushed, Mediocre Attention
I had two separate appointments and never saw Dr. Singh. During my second appointment, for which I had recent and updated imaging (MRI), another Doctor came in first. After he heard that my conditions were somewhat improved, he never bothered to check if he could access the MRI. He said it was in a different system and they could only read results, which is not the case as I confirmed with my primary care physician. He was eager to get me done and rushed out of there. I had a question about insurance and he sent the PA in. She was even more abrupt and clearly wanted to get out of the conversation as soon as possible. Once she left, I sat in the room for 15 min before I left and asked someone 'is anyone else coming, no one has told me if I'm done.' A different doctor said my appointment was complete.During my first appointment, I only saw the PA - she was impatient. Overall, both times, there was a lack of attention and patience to answer questions about my own health.

Poor experience
I came to Dr. Singh for guidance and a second opinion on my condition. I was dismissed and spoken to condescendingly about my chronic pain that started in 2008 as a teen from bilateral pars fractures that lead to spondylolisthesis. I have been placed in a back brace and have had several images done: bone scan, ct scan, mri, and x rays. Dr Singh expressed my back is “fine” and my pain is most likely due to depression. I am a licensed mental health therapist and can assure that I do not have depression.

Did not come into the room
I waited for over an hour and Dr Singh did not come into the room. Another attendant came in and apologized for the hour plus wait, and told me since the PA didn’t think I needed surgery based on a look at my MRI results that I should just leave. I had flown in from another state to see him. The Lack of care for humans in this industry is disheartening.

Fantastic Experience
Dr Singh is fantastic. There is no BS. Dr Singh makes the diagnosis, recommends a treatment plan and instills so much confidence that your problem will be resolved. The entire team including check-in staff, x-ray tech, nurse and Fellow were at the top of their game. Very effective and extremely efficient.

First Class
Dr Singh came Highly recommended by two close friends and from the moment I entered the office at RUSH (Oakbrook) Dr Singh and his team treated me like a friend. But also with professionalism and concern for my wellbeing. Dr Sing has great “Bedside Manner” I HIGHLY recommend him and his team.

Consult
I felt rushed during my consult with Dr Singh. He recommended surgery and I had questions regarding it. He didn’t answer my 2nd question and stated you can go on my website to learn more about the surgery. If you are interested, you can make an appt with my care team and they can answer your questions. I was put off by this very much. Also his videos did not answer any of my surgical questions. Very disappointed with the consult. I will not be returning.

Dr. Singh
He was very thorough, kind, and compassionate. He really listened to me explain my pain. After reviewing my MRi and new 4 different x-rays. I felt he really wanted to see the whole picture of my back. After that I feel he gave me his expertise advice. And reading some reviews about Dr. Singh telling them they weren’t a Candidate makes me respect him, knowing what he thinks needs surgery or not! I felt Dr. Singh did a great of explaining the surgery options.

Upsetting
Went to Dr. Singh as I had a diagnosis from an EMG and need a surgeon to fix my problem - the EMG clearly stated that a part of my problem was chronic but over half on the EMG indicated that it was a new issue - He completely blew off my EMG that it wasn't reliable and stated that my issue was chronic kind of inferring why was I there - I 'corrected' him that my main problem is a new issue - then he looked at my latest MRI(N) and stated that it looked good didn't see any issue - then said I need a CT M (which is with Dye) I said I was horribly allergic to Dye and he said nastily that's it I'm done here - I left there confused and extremely upset - I would never go to this surgeon if he was the last one on this planet. I didn't need this extra stress and anxiety as I've been dealing with my problem for over two years.

Very poor experience
I came to Dr Singh at the advisement of another Rush provider. The goal was to coordinate care and make a plan moving forward. This did not occur. Two PA’s met with me first and told me I could expect surgery to be needed. The doctor came in the room for no more than 3 minutes- said I was not a candidate and offered me nothing more. He was not willing to help me with non-controlled pain meds. He was not willing to educate me on the process of improving my well being or decreasing my pain. He handed me a referral to the Ability Lab with no further information. The front desk receptionists even shared “this happens all the time”. Rush- you’re better than this. Your providers are always top notch. This was a deplorable interaction.

Lacking empathy
I felt dismissed like my pain didn’t matter. Because my issue does not fit neatly into a surgery, it felt as though Dr. Singh was not interested in helping me or even having a conversation. Very frustrating experience.

Thank You Dr. Kern Singh
I have seen Dr. Kern Singh 2 days ago for my neck pain due to issues at different levels in my cervical spin. He explained to me clearly my issue and recommended me for Mckenzie therapy. He could have simply recommended me for surgery, which I was ready to go with, but he recommended me for therapy based on my symptoms.

Strongly NOT recommended
I drove 150 miles for my appointment and was turned away by office staff because Dr Singh doesn't take Medicare. I spoke with his staff 3 times prior, including providing my United Healthcare Medicare Advantage insurance information. Staff didn't have the competency to inform me ahead of time. I'm on Disability for my spine. Dr. Singh should accept Medicare when many disabled people require his expertise and don't have a choice, but are automatically assigned some sort of Medicare. I cannot recommend Dr Singh or his staff.
