Changed my life (ADHD)
Dr. Alper has completely changed my life for the better. My ADHD was absolutely ruining me and stimulants were doing nothing but causing more panic. I had anxiety and panic attacks almost every day and it felt like I was lost. Dr. Alper and I worked through different non-stimulants, and after some brief testing, found the one that changed my life for the better. He recommended literature on the subject, specific therapy for my problems, and 8 months later I've never felt more in control of my life. I've been steadily medicated for 6 months now with nothing but fantastic results: I'm no longer ruled by impulse, my daily anxiety and panic is gone, and I'm able to think clearly focus as well as relax. Not only this, but he worked with me to make sure my dosing was correct and was very interested in my journey. He took an active professional interest in my well-being. I would recommend him a million times over if I could.

excellent care
Dr. Alper is a life-saving support for my son for several years now. He has been completely focused and present and was able to achieve remarkably favorable results pinpointing the right medication and dosage. He is confident, not presumptuous and highly responsive.

I have been seeing Dr. Alper for two years now. I've seen several other psychiatrists over the years, yet Dr. Alper was the ONLY one to correctly diagnose me, and treat me with the correct combinations of medications. He listens intently, is compassionate, intelligent, and truly cares about helping those in need. He returns calls promptly, even on weekends, and is available via his answering service at all days and times (in case of emergency). I have never seen such a caring psychiatrist in my life! I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Alper to anyone with a mental health need!

Dr. Alper is not attentive and has a big ego. These traits are why he is a inept diagnostician. He will swear to you his approach is working even when all evidence points to the contrary. And even after another doctor proves he was wrong, he will not own up to his mistakes. I would recommend finding another doctor.

I had a mixed experience with Dr. Alper. He definitely does not rush visits, which is good, but as a result, often ran very late - I've waited up to an hour. He doesn't seem to take many notes, and would often ask me about what he and I have done in the past, what medications we've tried and why I stopped taking them. He says he'll get back to you about things and doesn't. He rambles a lot about chemical structures of medications. He cares and tried to help, but is also insensitive. He laughed at me when I was anxious that a physical symptom I was having was something serious. And I stuck with him after that, even though it made me cry. I finally gave up after years without relief and am much happier elsewhere.

I found Dr. Alper to be an EXCELLENT Dr. of Psychiatry. He returns calls promptly and is extremely compassionate. When I was seen by Dr. Alper he did not rush me through an appointment or just throw medication at me. He took his time with me and followed up with me after prescribing antidepressant and anxiety medications. I would highly recommend Dr. Alper.

Dr Alper is a highly intelligent doctor who studied psychiatry, neurology and most importantly pharmaceuticals. This is truly beneficial especially for any person in crisis. He takes no short cuts when you need to be diagnosed properly. My daughter went to a doctor who only made her situation worse by not properly diagnosing her and not prescribing the right medications for her. Her situation was complicated due to a seizure disorder and brain surgeries. On my daughters first visit with Dr Alper

Dr. Alper proved to have the worst bedside manner I've ever encountered - that includes my experience with a number of surgeons and various other practitioners. While Dr. Alper proved unable to feel empathy over the year+ that I stuck it out under his care, he had not shortage of self confidence. His arrogance is on par with that of any other person I've dealt with - not just in medicine, but in finance / corporate America. I've never left a review before for anyone but felt compelled to do so.

Dr. Alper prescribed the right drug on his first attempt after several healthcare professionals over a period of 5 years had failed to do so in treating my severe clinical depression. After two hospitalizations, I gave up pursuing any further treatment until I met Dr. Alper, who saved my life from the miserable and debilitating "existence" that I had become accustomed to with no real contact with the outside world, fear of leaving my home, and losing my business. He is truly a miracle worker.

Amazing Dr. I truly don't have a bad thing to say. He has always been available when I needed him, and he was able to realize that I was taking the wrong meds on the first visit. He's since corrected that, and since then I've started to feel much better than I did. A professional that actually cares...what a concept!

I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Alper. I've never waited more than a couple of minutes, I feel that when he is with me his attention is also with me, not his computer, his phone or a pad. He isn't your typical McDoctor that just dispenses drugs. When he hears your previous experiences with medication, and potential diagnoses his extensive knowledge allows him to see beyond those snap decisions to prescribe medication and he works with you to find whats right for you personally.

After my very first appointment with Dr. Alper, I knew he was the right Dr. for me. I made my decision based in part to the great reviews here. He was interested in getting to know me instead of just "my problems". I think that because he is so personable it really put me at ease. He made me feel comfortable and definitely added to the trust factor, which is a big deal to me. We've been really successful too! After seeing him, he changed my medication and I feel better than I have in years!

Dr. Alper is an absolutely stellar human being yet alone dr. That sum it up for you? Most psychiatrists like to put you in a box and say "oh you have anxiety take this drug you'll be fine." But he goes the extra step because he is so intelligent and his understanding of the meds and how they truly function is unheard of. I trust him more than any doctor I have ever met. He is so kind, so AVAILABLE, very much cares about my overall health (which is complicated). GO SEE HIM, HE CHANGED MY LIFE.

After years of working with different DRs I finally found the right one! After meeting with Dr. Alper he immediately knew that my medications weren't working, and why. After he switched my medications I've never felt better. By far one of the best in New York City. One of the most sincere and caring DRs I've ever met. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Alper is amazing on so many levels - he's caring, very astute to what meds will work for each specific patient, plus he's funny! I felt comfortable with him from day 1 and can't recommend him enough if you are looking for a caring, smart-as-a-whip doctor who is devoted to studying the latest in his field and to trying to find new ways to help his field and his patients. I trust him implicitly, which is not easy with NYC doctors! Too bad there's no option for 10 stars!
