Dr. Joshua Klopper, MD

Dr. Klopper is a dismissive doctor who struggles to do even the bare minimum for his patients and surely won’t go above and beyond for anything you may need. I saw him as a pregnant woman (because I! requested an appointment, not him!) and even them, he had very little interest in the state of my health. After the birth I reached out for help from him and after multiple, thoughtful emails requesting his assistance, I literally received one sentence back from him stating that if I wanted this medication, I would have to appeal the insurance company myself. The endo I switched to in order to replace him appealed the insurance company and I had the medication in my hands in literally less than 24 hours after speaking to her for the very first time. Within a few weeks of switching to a different endocrinologist, I received a letter from Kaiser that he was no longer with them. I am clearly not the only patient he “cares” about only as long as we’re necessary to keep the checks coming.

Dr. Klopper performed my thyroidectomy 3 years ago & is managing my thyroid meds. His care plan for me worked well while I fit the mold of typical thyroid issues. While simultaneously seeing Dr. Klopper, I'm receiving care for infertility & we thought the IVF meds were throwing my thyroid off. I messaged him and asked that he talk with my fertility doctor to get a full picture of what's happening. Dr. Klopper declined & indicated my thyroid would only be affected if I was on certain estrogen medications (which I was) and left it at that without further follow-up or discussion. I persisted and got my fertility nurse to tell me what I need to share with Dr. Klopper & made an appointment with him. Lo and behold, I shared my estrogen level and he said in a surprised voice, "Oh, well knowing that changes things," and revised the previous plan. I learned he has one foot out the door and is leaving within the month. Based on my experience, patient well-being is clearly not a top priority.

Dr. Klopper and the corresponding surgeon at the U of Colorado Hospital saved my life by diagnosing and subsequently surgically removing my Medullary Thyroid Cancer which had progressed to a roughly half inch size of cells in my Thyroid. He and the surgeon saved my life for which I will always be grateful.
