Dr. Cook - Mohs Procedure
Had Mohs procedure for Melanoma on lower left cheek. I received a very detailed packet from Dr. Cook's office explaining what to expect with the Mohs procedure and how to prepare, which I found extremely useful. All the staff and Dr. Cook were very professional and friendly and answered all of my questions. They made sure to show me how to care for my wound and also gave me supplies and detailed instructions. Dr. Cook called at 6:30 p.m. to check up to see how I was doing and see if I had any questions. I have been extremely impressed by Dr Cook and his entire staff from getting the initial packet through the procedure and followup.

I had a basal cell carcinoma which required MOHS treatment. It was at a spot at the lower end of the nostril, but quite deep (think of an iceberg). I made a number of trips back to the examining room and had many specimens removed. Until the last: the nurse held a mirror to my face, and I nearly fainted-it was a gaping hole in nearly the center of my face. Less than an hour later and with stitches extending from the outer corner of my eye to the upper outside of my nose and down below my mouth to my chin, I emerged, gauze covered and, I must admit, quite anxious. That was almost nine years ago. Today, is no scar. There remains almost nothing to indicate I had half of my face cut and stitched together again. Numerous subsequent doctors, in many places I have lived and worked, have marveled at how well the surgery was done. I cannot recommend Dr. Cook enough-truly. Do not hesitate. He is the best.

Can't say enough good things about Dr. Cook and the staff at the Duke Mohs Surgery Center. They were easy to work with (scheduling, check in, etc.). All the staff were tremendously kind. And most important, Dr. Cook is incredibly skilled. I am so grateful that I had access to such a high caliber of care when I needed skin cancer removed.

Dr. Cook is very professional. He explains procedure and makes one comfortable. I have been to him three times and have a follow-up next week. Great office support staff and while waiting the snacks are great.????????

They believe acetaminophen will cover any pain, regardless of the procedure. I’m glad they weren’t remove my kidney stone. My suggestion, just save your breath. After the procedure, go directly to an urgent care and tell them your doctor is a jackass and doesn’t believe in pain meds. It’s worth the extra $50 not to have to beg

Dr. Cook is renowned in his work and for good reason. If you need the Mohs procedure, this doctor is one of the globe's best. I had a melanoma on my lip an he made correct decisions in getting testing first then he did a thorough, precise and excellent job. I had and still have full confidence in his expertise. I highly recommend.

Time of Visit: Follow-up on facial Mohs procedure Drive to Clinic: 35 minutes Wait time in Clinic Lobby: 57 minutes Pictures by assistant: 3 minutes Wait time alone in exam room: 34 minutes Time spent with Dr. Cook: 31 seconds Drive back Home: 35 minutes TOTAL AMOUNT OF MY TIME WASTED: 2.7 Hours!!! Not a one-time anomaly, First follow-up visit was the same experience. Dr. Cook is certainly a very decorated surgeon...but that is not a license to be this disrespectful of a patient's time!

My husband has been a patient of Dr. Cook's since 2006. He has had multiple procedures done for facial cancer. Dr Cook has always been patient and kind to us. Very professional but willing to take what time is needed to help us understand all procedures. The work he has done has been outstanding and I have already recommended him to other people. My husband recently had a squamous cell removed from his temple and we were pleasantly surprised when Dr. Cook called that evening to check on him.
