Dr. John Ganal, MD

Dr. Ganal has been my pain doctor since he began at kaiser. After several operations an countless treatments, I would 'never' consider another doctor. Doctor ganal has always listened to me an given me several options to consider. It is true, there have been times he is very busy. But when your good at what you do, there are endless people seeking his help. He has never let me down. Several reviews were not very nice. But I truely believe those writing the reviews wouldn't know a good doctor, whom is as careing as doctor ganal. Would I recommend doctor ganal? Bet your pain filled body I would an do.

Dr didn't explore my symptoms with me at all and as good as said 'why are you even bothering me?

I have been a patient for 8+ yrs. Dr. Ganal has always patiently taken time needed to answer my concerns at every appointment. He is professional, kind and knows what he’s doing. I trust him to provide the care I need, especially when it involves sticking needles in my back. His staff is also top notch. I now live 2 hours from his office, but gladly drive the distance because that’s how good he is. Such a nice guy too.

I read the reviews on Dr. Ganal before I met him and before I spoke to him on the phone I was a little concerned. After speaking with him for a several minutes I realized reviews are all wrong he is absolutely wonderful I’ve had two back procedures done with him he’s the most caring most Professional and best in his field of pain management I’m very happy with my results

I saw Dr. Ganal for Pain Management in November 2019. He was arrogant and indifferent and lacked a professional demeanor. He rejected an existing diagnosis of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome without any physical examination or review of my records (he complained the records were "confusing"), and insisted my most pressing medical concern was opiate addiction, based solely on the fact that I had a Tramadol prescription, a medication I utilized as needed at a fraction of the prescribed frequency. He insisted on prescribing Gabapentin horse pills despite my previous adverse reactions. I should have demanded a refund of my copay.

If you want a Dr that listens and understand the root of the problem and will focus on actually helping with PAIN management, this is NOT your doctor. He will take one look and just assume you are faking your pain. Does not care about the patients comfort or wellbeing. Only cares about clocking in and clocking out.

Dr. Ganal is currently working at Kaiser in Pain Management. I had to go 50 miles to see him instead of the pain management doctor at my local Kaiser. Any access problems are Kaiser's fault, not his. He understood my problem, explained the process of epidural lumbar injections, and then did it perfectly. I experienced immediate relief (from the temporary anesthetic) and so I expect to feel the cortisone working in a week. Dr. Ganal is personable, knowledgeable, and compassionate.
