Belittled, dismissed and talked down to.
Dr. Fang was rude, condescending and dismissive. Hung up on my weight and continued to make comments regarding my weight, which was not relevant or helpful. I would choose any other provider if I had the option. I do not trust him nor do I feel safe under his care.

Stay as far away as you can
This doctor turned me away because of my BMI and refused me care until I had lost more weight to have my surgical feeding tube placed. Avoid this person at all costs.

Why is this guy even a doctor?
In my 62 years on this planet I have NEVER met a more arrogant and dismissive doctor ever. I have no idea how this guy is even still employed with the Univ. of Utah. Really, truly... no idea. He will look you dead in the eye and tell you that nothing is wrong with you when clearly there IS. He thinks every patient is clueless and they should just shut their mouth and not ask any questions. It's just shockingly awful that this "doctor" is allowed to practice in this state. I'm not exaggerating. Totally avoid this doctor.

I'm from the East Coast so not easily offended; however, Dr. Fang is arrogant, dismissive, interrupts constantly, seems to be looking ahead to his next patient. He also recommends options he really doesn't know much about, & unfortunately for him, I am highly qualified since it is my area of expertise. He definitely didn't like being contradicted. When I asked him how patients whose scans "stump" the doctors are supposed to go on from there, his reply was, and I kid you not "it is what it is". It is what it is??? Unconsionable! He said when all the tests come back negative there isn't much to be done. How about this? How about using your brain instead of looking at scans. Like doctors did before there were all of this tech. So many doctors have forgotten how to reason because they rely exclusively on tech. I'm sorry I waited 3 months for an appt. with a doctor possessing such limited thinking. Oh, & his U site links to Dr. James Fang's patient reviews which are glowing. Don't be fooled

Arrogant, talks down to his patients and he's incredibly difficult to schedule and appointment with. He also likes to interrupt you mid-sentence if he doesn't want to hear what you have to say. Avoid!

Dr John C Fang was a God send to me, the first of many Drs that could even discuss a very rare condition that i had already studied the cutting edge treatment that I wanted. If you need someone to hold your hand, hire a therapist, if you want the best with a knife go see Dr Fang. My quality of life has increased greatly since he operated on my throat from a condition I suffered with for years that other surgeons canceled me when they were told what was required of them.

Do not go to Dr. Fang. He refuses to do up to date work. He operated without having all the necessary prerequisite information. The result was an ambulance ride and 5 days in the hospital, after “simple” procedure. He used the wrong size stint. Etc. Run away from him!

This is the worst doctor I've ever seen in my entire life. He had to work on a Sunday to do emergency procedures on me at the University of Utah Med Center and he was exceedingly rude to me. I have never been treated so poorly by a physician in my life when I was more sick than I've ever been. I would strip his license if I had the ability to do so. More unprofessional behavior than I could ever imagine! What a worthless person, and the fact that he is chief is un-believable!
