The staff was great. But, I went to get a referral for surgery as i have severe CMC arthritis his response was the pain would go away over time. I said I would like a referral to a surgeon. He did give me one and that surgeon took one look at my hands then the xrays and said I need surgery. Dr. Silverfield didnt even request new xrays and mine were a year old and I was in much more pain than last year. The fact he said my pain would go away over time blew me away. Both hands are bone on bone. I would not recommend him for CMC arthritis.

Dr Silverfield actually takes the time to listen and discuss options with you. He has always treated me with respect and works in partnership. I have found his office staff to be professional and positive. Overall, I will choose my insurance plan based on his being in network with them. He's THAT good!

I was referred to Dr. Silverfield for having joint pain for several years and I have to say he is one of the most amazing doctors I have ever been to in my 47 years! He actually listens, his bedside manner is amazing and he doesn’t treat you like you’re there for no reason!

The best doctor around, hands down. Wait times tend to be long and it may take time to get an appointment....BUT, well worth any wait. He is the best listener and truly cares about his patients and their well being. I have been a patient for approximately 4 years + and cannot say enough good things about him. Highly recommend!!!!!

Definitely no, I was referred to Dr Silverfield due to a skin biopsy indicating lupus erythamatosis and a positive ANA test. Upon my visit after an appointment was scheduled (3 months later) he told me absolutely nothing and was dismissive of my concerns, I shared my experience of having reynauds in my fingers due to them turning blue and he told I was wrong and that reynauds is when your fingers turn white ( WRONG, it's either). He did a sed rate which was slightly elevated but not of concern. He never gave me a diagnosis other than "the sun is your enemy". I asked his nurse if I had a diagnosis and she rudely said "no diagnosis" and turned her back and walked away (oxymoron "compassionate nurse"). I never returned and was so discouraged that I didn't see another rheumatologist for years. In actuality Irecieved more compassionate efficient care from my dermatologist and have found that my lupus was due to my prescription high blood pressure medication. Seek someone else

It takes some time to get an appointment to see Dr. Silverfield and also time in the waiting room but well worth the time. Dr. Silverfield is very thorough and really hears what you are saying. For me , hands down , the best Rheumatologist I have gone to. He just seems like he cares!

Dr Silverfield is my Rheumotologist located in Tampa Florida. I respect him for his continued support through the years. Zena is such a pleasure at the desk upon my arrival. Nurse Ashley took care of my scripts after Dr Silverfield completed my Rheumotology exam and he took the time to check on my prescriptions with explanation that changes in my medical insurance created major changes in the cost of my medicine. I’ve paid $10 for my Duexis for years, although now it would cost $2500.00 a month just for one medication. Obviously I cannot afford this prescription although Dr Silverfield provided alternative options. Yoanna provided my checkout and scheduling for follow through.

Very abrupt in his visit. Seen Drs in Midwest for years and when I have a problem they listen and work to fix it. I think it’s said best above, he’s overworked, too old to keep up, stops appointments quickly with no answers, never reads your chart, only dictates to his computer and has no memory of your conditions. He tells you to go see other Drs for all problems. His staff is terrible and never returns phone calls. His online message system is just as bad. People who think he’s worth the two hour wait for your scheduled appt sadly haven’t seen true good healthcare.

I have known Dr. Joel Silverfield for many years . I had many doctors before him but he is the best. He is of course extremely knowledgeable and competent but more importantly he has that rare quality of offering support and encouragement while simultaneously encouraging you to do what needs to be done. He is extremely busy but somehow he makes you feel like you are his only patient and you leave his office feeling better than when you walked in. jamie jackson
