Rude and condescending-don’t waste your time
I took my toddler to be seen by Dr. Berland, and we have never been treated so rudely by a physician. From the second he walked into the room, he was condescending to our family. He quickly recommended surgery, but actually used the words “I won’t be answering any of your questions” and referred us to his website. When we asked a couple of simple questions anyways, he got annoyed and made comments about our “millions” of questions, then eventually laughed at us, and stood up to walk out. Not only does his surgery recommendation not seem to be appropriate for my son, but his ego and lack of empathy for parents and young patients is concerning. Office manager was understanding and apologetic, but admitted he’s partial owner, so I’m sure nothing will be done. There are multiple similar reviews that mimic our experience. Please don’t waste your time, there are many other good doctors out there.

Do Not Recommend
I saw this doctor for double vision and did not have a good experience. I wasted money, time, and energy, but my vision never improved. He first attempted to fit me with prism glasses, but the prescription did not result in reduced double vision. I then had an uncomfortable, unpleasant eye surgery, which was also not successful. This was one of my worst medical experiences, and I decided to move on. I ended up seeing a different doctor in the practice and was finally able to get the help I needed.

He seemed nice the day of my daughter’s surgery, but today he was a worthless ding dong. His staffers told us we needed to book our follow up appointment for today, because it was the last one for the year despite Dr. Berland saying to wait for 3 months. He decided to get rude with us as if it were our fault. Your staff told us otherwise, don’t be rude to you patients because your staff told us to book this follow up appointment. That’s your office’s communication error. Learn how to treat your patients, you are running a business too.

Long wait and condescending
We were told to wait 25 minutes after my daughter’s eyes were dilated and instead waited more than an hour and a half. When I politely mentioned the wait had been very long I was reprimanded for raising the issue and lectured that he was an important surgeon with complicated cases and that I should have known the wait would be more than 2 hours as this is normal for him. Most problematically when I explained that the information I was given at this visit about my child’s vision was different than what I had been told by his predecessor I was spoken to like I must just have just been too stupid to understand the diagnosis.

Dr. Berland is extremely dismissive and rude to parents. I waited an hour between nurse and seeing him in a room that is not child friendly for my 14 month old. He then rushed the appointment, spoke over me and didn't even let me finish a thought. He then spits out medical terms to his assistant and didn't bother to look at the file before coming in so he just read everything from a month ago out loud. He then asked me to sit forward and proceeded to physically move my body forward before I could even do it myself. He then uses terms as "mothers always think this..." and continued to state mothers seeing things when he knows what hes doing. I never once questioned his knowledge and will not be returning to him.

We should have read these reviews before seeing the doctor. Many of the reviews here are true. This doctor seems to be very rushed and we felt he needs proper ethics when talking to parents of the kids. He didn’t explain anything about my kid’s nearsightedness instead he just said that he has mild eyesight and doesn’t recommend eye glasses. When we asked him questions he asked us to hold on and was busy talking with his assistant. Mr. Berland incase you read this review, please keep in mind that parents bring their kids with a trust in you and its your responsibility to explain everything clearly to them. There is no point of we coming home and googling all those medical terms. We don’t recommend this doctor for kids.

After walking the parking lot for 40 minutes with my one year old child waiting for my appointment with Dr. BERLAND, I finally saw him walk into the building I’m assuming from a late lunch. He wasn’t busy with other patients just not at the facility. I went inside to check on my appointment which was supposed to be at 12:40pm and they finally got me in at 1:30pm.. mind you I have a 1 year old. He opened door without knocking and addressed my 1 year old as “how’s my girl doing” but NEVER addressed me. He didn’t ask me any questions and when I did ask him a question he told me “just let me do my job”. Any comment or question I made, he was completely dismissive and disrespectful. When my daughter got fussy because he was trying to shine a light in her dialated eyes after she’s been there for 2 hours he seemed like he couldn’t handle her fussiness and I had to awkwardly nurse her so he could check her eyes with his face basically right up in my boobs.

My kid got higher astigmatism prescription. Even then, I was suggested that glasses are not required. Now, after 6 months, my kids astigmatism only increased. As an experienced doctor, he should inform me about astigmatism. I should nt be learning about it through google.

I couldn't be happier to have found Dr. Berland. I'd lived with a traumatic eye injury for 35 years and he was able to achieve really impressive cosmetic improvement. I'm so pleased with the care and comfort I got from him.

We took my five year old daughter to see Dr. Berland for a routine eye exam. Overall no complaints, except we do wish he had spent more time talking to us. He seemed to be in an extreme rush.

Dr. Berland is a vision saver. We had no idea how serious our son's condition was until Dr. Berland took a look and gave us the news. We are very appreciative of Dr. Berland and his expertise. The ladies in his office are so attentive and helped us tremendously as well. We actually go to Dr. Berman in his office for adult care and he has been super too.

I took my 3 y/o to see Dr. Berland at the request of his pediatrician. The initial eye test was completed promptly, but we waited over 2 hrs to see Dr. Berland. Once we were seen, he ran a few tests and proceeded to share his diagnosis. He was very curt and when I began to ask questions, he directed me to speak with his assistants. He then walked out of the room before I had an opportunity to respond, spending less than 5 minutes with us. I am shocked at his unprofessionalism & patient demeanor.
