Would not recommend
This doctor, a second opinion, did nothing more than look at the notes from the previous doctor and repeat his diagnosis word for word. She didn’t even look at my new x-rays, which were different than what the other doctor saw. She was beyond arrogant (for no obvious reason,) and unnecessarily rude! It was a waste of my precious time.

Torn rotator cuff
Dr Chu did surgery on my torn rotator cuff in Jan. 2022. It had been a long journey to get that done, she thought continual cortisone shots was better. I was in pain, and finally after much arguing (most arrogant and argumentative Dr I've ever been to) After the surgery she had me going to PT. At the PO visit I let her know I didn't think things felt right, still pain. She told me it was to be expected and did nothing. Now 9 months later, I have to have rotator cuff surgery. The anchor she put in came out, and have a torn bicept she did not address. This whole experience has been very stressful. I would never go back to her, or recommend her. She is arrogant, argumentative, and doesn't listen ir take into account the patient knows their own body and knows when something is not right. Horrible

One of the worst doctors I've ever seen
The whole appointment was a joke. I was there for a second opinion to try to sort out the best course of treatment for my thumb given my health conditions and allergies. The first thing the doctor said when she saw my thumb was "Oh good! The swelling's gone down!" She had never seen me before and the swelling in my thumb has actually gotten worse since I saw my main doctor last. She also gave me a cortisone shot without checking to see if I had been recently vaccinated. I got my second Hep B vaccine on the Saturday before my Monday appointment with her. I found out while looking up some side effects of the cortisone shot that I shouldn't have gotten it because of my recent vaccination. I'm now at an increased risk of infection and the efficacy of my second Hep B shot is lower. I'm a first responder. I need this immunity to keep me safe. She spent all of 15 mins with me out of a scheduled 30 min appointment. Her bedside manner is awful. She's arrogant and argumentative.

I went to her for an injury to my hand. She spent about 30 seconds tops with me, and blew off the injury as a "snapped ligament or something". She abruptly left the exam room with no more instruction or information. I had seen her before for other issues, so I considered her my doctor. After 13 months in pain from my hand injury, I went to a different hand specialist and it was found that I have a torn ligament in my hand that will need surgery.

I went to her for an injury to my hand. She spent about 10 seconds with me, blew off the injury, and abruptly left the room. 13 months later I am still in pain and I went to a different hand specialist. The new doctor ordered an MRI and discovered I have a near-complete tear of one of the ligaments in my hand, which now will need surgery. I just cannot get over how Dr Chu blew off this injury 13 months ago.

I’ve seen her for about a year now and I agree with other reviewer - I don’t get the earlier negative reviews. My initial visit, I was expecting (and prepared for) surgery to my wrist and hand... she talked me out of it and suggested we attempt less invasive treatment initially. Her suggestion worked. I didn’t have 8 wks of downtime and recovery from surgery either! Let’s be real- doctors get paid (a lot) more to opt for surgery. Dr. Chu honored her Hippocratic oath AND her patient. She’s very professional, but to the point. I’m sure she wouldn’t recognize me outside the office (part of a huge practice) - but I don’t care if she memorizes patient names or faces if she does the right thing. That’s what you want from your doctor. I’ll also give props to her staff nurses AND the office staff at the Plano practice... great women and men: attentive, caring, respectful, and professional - all of them.

I have had two experiences with Dr Chu. She removed the fluid from a cyst on my finger. When that didn’t work, she surgically removed it. I don’t know where the negative complaints are coming from. She was professional, friendly, and competent. She told me that once I was her patient, I would always be her patient. She meant that I was always welcome to come back. I’m my estimation, she is really, really good.

After receiving a horrible experience from another Orthopedic after getting in a pretty bad car accident with a shattered hand. I searched through my Cigna doctor finder and found Dr. Jennifer Chu. After the delay from the other Orthopedic that waited almost 2 weeks to schedule me for surgery, Dr. Chu was AMAZING! Very compassionate, understanding, and quickly scheduled me for surgery the following day. She was very knowledgeable, and made me feel at ease. I thought my left hand would never func

Five weeks after my 1/17/2018 hand surgery, Chu removed the cast and dropped me off at rehab. Six requests for a follow-up appointment (three by me, three provided, unasked, by office staff) are unanswered. What my modified hand may or may not do was not provided verbally or in writing. Dr. Chu operates on my 89 year old father’s shoulder and hip last week, and she probably saved his life. I met Dr. Chu with my father in her office. She was sincere and passionate. Dr. Chu is not the chatty type, but I work with physicians every day, and I know sometimes a chatty physician may not be a good physician. I can tell that she really cares about her patients. She also did a fantastic operation on my father, and I’ll definitely recommend her to anyone I know.

(2013) Very cold, unfriendly personality. Didn't seem concerned with finding the cause of my pain. Instead gave me a Cortizone shot and sent me on my way. Very likely the most expensive shot I've ever received, though.

Did not seem concerned and gave impression of not listening. Exited room came back with a cart and syringe, asked which side of my wrist hurt the most. My response was the underside, laid it on the table she put some alcohol on my wrist and stuck the syringe in my wrist. At that point I reacted by grabbing at her arm due the the excruciating pain! I have had operations, stitches many shots and needles this pain was the worst I have ever felt, with no warning. Felt like in-out get my money, move on
