personable, professional, and active
Dr. Kallsen treats me for type 1 diabetes. He has extensive knowledge and is able to put things into regular wording. He asks my opinions about technology and my care, as well as what is working and not. He is also highly active and teaches me how to exercise and handle my health.

Wonderful Endocrinologist
I have been seeing Dr. Kallsen for 10 years now since having my thyroid removed and could not be happier with him. He was so patient and understanding with some of the issues I was dealing with after having my thyroid removed and again when weight gain issues arose when I entered menopause. He always answers all of my questions and I never feel rushed. I moved about 30 miles away a few years ago, but still go to see him annually as I am that pleased with him.

Best Endo I've Had
Until Dr. Kallsen I dreaded going to the endocrinologist. Within 6 months of seeing him my a1c dropped from around 8 to under 6.5

I was diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic in 1991. I have been seeing him for over 8 years. He referred me to a dietician and between them I have my blood sugar under control and have lost 55 lbs. I would highly recommend him to anyone. Chuck KCMO.

Dr Kallsen is a waste of time and money. Do NOT see this doctor. My daughter went in after labs. Labs showed that her Thyroid was totally out of whack from her usual levels. She had a visible lump on her neck from an enlarged thyroid. He told her the lump was from turning her head too much and if she felt tired and sluggish she might have bipolar disorder, depression and/or anxiety. Didn’t even address her TSH and T4 labs that were low. This man does not know what he’s doing.

The last straw was when they denied a refill for a pen needle script. I payed out of pocket obviously for something I could have had with no co-pay simply because they want to hold you hostage with scripts to get more money for office visits. No thanks I'll find a doctor who actually gives a crap about my health.

Dr. Kallsen has been my endocrinologist for 5 years, and my diabetes is under much better control than before I was under his care. He takes the time to see what changes your body is most sensitive to, and sets up insulin regimens that are very effective while remaining as affordable as possible. He is a great doctor and an even better person.

When I first went to Dr. Kallsen, he seemed genuinely interested in trying to help me with my thyroid issue. I explained I wanted to know once and for all if my thyroid was making me fat. His reply to me was, "Let's run some tests. If it is your thyroid, we're going to fix it. If not..." Changed the dosage of my meds and I gained 22lbs in three months, on top of the 20lbs I'd already gained because my PCP had put me on too high a dose of Levothyroxine. Problem unresolved.

I had previously recommended this doctor to my friends. They came back telling me that they would never see him again. He tried to convince my friends and myself that we all had adult attention deficit disorder. For another friend, he tried to prescribe medication for a mental disorder. All my friend wanted was a prescription and a referral to get an insulin pump instead of taking shots. He used to be a good doctor but not any longer. 5 minutes late for your appointment and they cancel it.
