Very helpful and supportive
I was in tremendous pain and had gotten no help from my PCP or ER visits. He had reviewed my charts ahead of walking in with me for my first appointment and outlined my options clearly and took good time with my appointment to answer my questions. His office got my MRI approved within 24 hours of that appointment. I had my MRI scheduled for Friday at noon and they had submitted my paperwork to insurance before EOD. I got a call Monday at 7am letting me know it was approved and they could slot me in at the end of the day (previously thought 2 weeks out from surgery). They worked serious magic for me! Dr Johnson also personally called me that week to make sure I didn’t need anything before they closed for the weekend. Would highly recommend Dr Johnson and his whole team.

Dr. Johnson entered my first appointment having previously reviewed my file, which I greatly appreciated. He was clear in his explanation of the problem and possible solutions. Once surgery was decided upon, it was quickly scheduled. The fusion that was completed has changed my life, I only wish I had pursued surgery earlier.

I walked out of the surgery with more pain then I went in with. The pain was so intense afterwards, so he gave me a steroid pack that worked for a day or so. He gave a second steroid pack with the same result. Then he gave me a full dosage for 2 weeks. I was not given any warning about the possible risk I was taking. As a result of the steroids he gave me, I got a condition called Avascular Necrosis which causes the blood to stop flowing to the hip bone and the bone to die. My hips were crumbling and I had to have both completely replaced. I have yet to have another surgeon understand why I was given oral steroids rather than a localized shot. The Primary Care Dr that referred me to him said she would never refer him another patient. I am completely disabled as a result of my treatment by Dr Johnson and can barely walk anymore. I used to be a very busy and active person and now I spend most of my life in bed because the pain is so intense. Other Dr said he operated in the wrong spot.

I received excellent care from Dr. Johnson and Martha Wiggers. They were easy to talk with, thorough, and knowledgeable, giving me good information to make a decision about my care. I appreciated their willingness to spend time with me, answering all my questions. I chose surgical intervention and am pleased with the results; it was the right decision for me. In addition, their support staff was very pleasant, helpful and efficient. I would definitely recommend this competent practice to friends and family.

Spinal Decompression was painful after surgery for two months due to swelling. Then it cleared up and I feel better than I have felt in over 20 years! Best thing I have ever done! Thanks Dr Johnson!

I had back fusion surgery in 2011. I was experiencing great discomfort in my back again at the end of 2019. I was referred to Dr. Johnson by my primary physician. I met with Martha Wiggers first, she arranged for a steroid shot within 10 days. Two weeks later met Dr. Johnson. Both Martha and Dr. Johnson quickly and easily identified my problem. 4 days after meeting Dr. Johnson, he performed surgery at the Wilsonville Clinic. The surgery was quick and the recovery was relatively painless. At this point, I have found great relief and feel much better. I could not be more pleased with the swiftness and quality of the care I received. I felt both Martha and Dr. Johnson were helpful and capable. It is really a relief to feel good and relatively pain free again!

In 2004, I was in agony. Dr. Johnson performed surgery on my spine after a variety of efforts to avoid surgery. The results of the surgery was nothing short of a miracle. I was COMPLETELY pain free for over 15 years, until I was stopped in my car on the highway in early 2019 and rear-ended by a truck at a very high rate of speed. Agonizing pain & loss of full use of my leg was the result. Dr. Johnson was conservative in his approach to this new injury and, again, attempted to avoid surgery. I was appreciative of this effort, though it did not provide continued relief of the pain. As the pain began to escalate, it was clear that surgery was the only option. The surgery took place 5-weeks ago. All I can say is that Dr. Johnson is a miracle worker. The pain is gone and I have full use of my leg! He and Portland Neurosurgery are as professional and competent as it gets. Words cannot express how grateful I am that Dr. Jeffrey Johnson is my doctor.

Dr. Johnson is a skilled, knowledgeable surgeon. When I went to see him for my surgery he explained everything and conferenced my daughters Into the conversation since they were out of state and very concerned. This surgery was on my neck on my spinal cord and he is a miracle worker. He told me that a successful surgery meant they could only stop the progression that they could not reverse my symptoms which were shaking hands, numb fingers and difficulty walking. I had that surgery a year ago just short of three weeks. I am walking perfectly fine, I do not shake. I do have a little bit of numbness in my fingers. I highly recommend him and if I could give him 10 stars I would. I’ve checked with him several times over this last year and I’m on track. He prevented me from being in a wheelchair. I can’t say enough about him. Also his staff was great. I did have to wait for him in his office a bit long, but it was well worth it. He was worth waiting for and I’m glad He was my surgeon

I was fortunate to be referred to Dr. Johnson when I had numbness in my legs. He found I had spinal stenosis in my lumbar spine, which is unusual. I had a laminectomy, and he did an amazing job. I've been up walking now for several weeks, and am still improving daily. He has a very calm and caring manner, and instills trust from the start. His office staff is top notch, and his PA Carmel is absolutely the best. I can't say enough good things about all of them. I feel he gave me my life back!

I allowed him to fuse my neck 3 years ago and I'm still miserable! After surgery I was left in my own urine for hours and sent home when I never should have been around midnight. It was the worst and my pain is a 10 years later. I recommend anyone considering fusion stay away from this hack job! Even my scar is horrible!

Dr. Johnson conducted two separate, unrelated operations on my back, one for a cyst and one for stenosis. Both were very successful and completed with no issues. Jeff is very knowledgeable and extremely competent. His staff was very helpful and caring. What separates Dr. Johnson from other neurosurgeons, is that he combines his technical knowledge with knowing his patient's physical, mental and emotional conditions. I highly recommend Jeff and thank him for his professional approach.

I have been a patient of Dr. Johnson's for over decade. I suffer from hereditary degenerative disc disease. I consider the only reason I am not disabled like others in my family due to the work and guidance of Dr. Johnson. In the post operation unit, nurses have rushed over to me because they saw me crying as I came out of the anesthetics. Each time I have earnestly told them my tears were of joy because the horrible nerve pain was gone and I could move and feel previously paralyzed areas.

I was suffered a right leg pain for more than 6 year until April 2016 I found Dr. Johnson that he gave me a correct diagnose. On April 20, I received decompression, removal of synovial cyst surgery in my lower spinal. Right after the surgery, the leg pain was gone. Now it's been 3 months after the surgery, I work and conduct all the activities as I never had the pain symptom. Dr. Johnson is a very care, skillful and knowledgeable surgeon. I highly recommend him to anyone with the similar symptom

I had a spinal fusion done about three years ago with major complications. I ended up getting an infection and being in the hospital for 24 days. It was extremely painful and continues to be a challenge. Dr. Johnson to this day takes care of my needs and always has. He has never ran from any problems I developed. I would recommend him to anyone wanting a caring surgeon.

Dr. Johnson and Carmel Wimber PA-C are the most caring and compassionate surgeons I have ever met in my life. I had issues with my spine, an injury I sustained while serving in the armed forces. I was very scared about the whole idea but the expertise, professionalism and wealth of knowledge they possess eased my mind. There is not a better team out there. Words cannot explain how much this team means to me! From the compassionate front desk to surgeons, they are the best there is! John McKey
