A positive Experience
When I asked a physical therapist friend of mine who he would recommend to replace my knee, he answered without hesitation, Dr. Burns. As it happened another friend of mine who also had a knee replacement also thought very highly of Dr. Burns skill. Both friends were correct. The 'process' began with being signed up with 'Force One', who provided sets of exercises Taylored to before and after surgery needs. Next, I was given a thorough physical at the Bone Institute at Hartford Hospital. On surgery day, the Bone Institute staff gave me a pretty good description of what to expect, and they were correct. Post Op., Dr Burns came in to see me and give me a reassuring review of the how the surgery had gone and what would transpire for the next three months. And he was right.....

new nee!! ha!ha!
Dr. Burns did an amazing job. Prior to the surgery, Dr. Burns was very informative and very honest as to what my knee replacement entailed. It was not a pleasant experience but the end result is a success. I endured the pain and the PT was hard at first but the info on Force Therapeutics was a tremendous help. Dr. Burns followed up personally as he checked up on me prior to and after surgery. Thank you Dr. Burns!!!!!

Very Happy
Dr. Burns did both my knee replacements 4 months apart. He answered all my questions and made me feel confident about both procedures. His staff was excellent; I had a superb experience at the Bone & Joint on both occasions with outstanding outcomes for both knees. His PA Kristina was also excellent. I only wish I had done this 15 years ago. I recommend him highly. Thank you, Dr Burns!

Did not communicate scaring risks involved in tkr
After explaining to this doctor that in my medical history I am at high risk for scarring, I was not told anything about the rare risk of developing Arthrofibrosis after total knee replacement prior to surgery. At my 3 month check up after explaining that the pain was actually worse and the function worse, he still did not diagnose which if caught early we could have used a different protocol to stop the arthrofibrosis (scar tissue) from continuing to form. He just told me to work harder and 'suck it up buttercup' which is the opposite of what to do with Arthrofibrosis. Now I went from ROM at 105 to 87. Suffering in constant pain and no function in the knee. He ruined my life. Dr. Burns, do your research and advise your patients of all risks. If I would have known ahead of time of this rare risk, I would have done the research and not had this surgery. If you would have listened to me at my 3 month visit, and if you were astute to the problem of scarring, you could have helped me.

Full Hip Replacement
Having seen Dr. Burns for a few years now, we have exhausted all options in advance of the hip replacement. With respect to the office and procedure, I couldn't be more pleased with the entire process. I am pain free for the first time in nearly 5 years and everything he said would happen, did in fact happen. The office is very well run and I appreciate the 'straight shooter' communication style of Dr. Burns. I find that he would take the time to answer whatever questions I had, and being prepared before you have your appointment is important. I am 90 days out and continue to feel better each and every day!

Total Knee Replacement
Dr Burns and his team did an outstanding job with my knee. Physical therapists, friends and people I come in contact with cannot believe I had a knee replacement. My recovery was very successful but it came with a recommended exercise program that made the difference. I have had strangers ask me who did the surgery and how they can contact him. I highly recommend Dr Burns and Kristina Murphy, PA. I could not be happier.

Disrespectful and not to be bothered doctor
He has a bad attitude and is rushing you out of your appointment. He will not thoroughly explain the hip procedure or explain at all. He does not want to be bothered with your issues or concerns. Will write on your medical report that the procedure was explained but will not truly explain anything to you. Will talk behind your back at an ears distance. He will not write you a light duty restriction if you are injured or hurting. Will not fill not out a disability accommodation request medical form. Very uncaring and unhelpful at all. Stay away from this doctor. The manager Dawn is just as bad. She very rude, disrespectful, bad attitude and ties to talk to you like your one of her employees.

Excellent Knee Replacement
Dr. Burns is a highly skilled and personable surgeon. He has a great sense of humor and a calming bedside manner. He spent as much time with me as I wanted and was very attentive and responsive. My surgery was an outstanding success. I walked out of the surgery center after the operation and was even able to walk up stairs when I got home. Within a week I was walking two miles. Within two weeks, I was doing 45 minutes on a stationery bike. Within three weeks, I was back on my road bike, going 24 miles. I will definitely return to him when my other knee needs to be replaced. Obviously, I was completely and enthusiastically satisfied with my experience with Dr. Burns.

Dr Burns performed a total knee replacement for me and I could not have been happier with the results. Prior to the procedure, he was generous with his time and thoroughly explained to me what to expect during the surgery and during recovery. He was straightforward and did not attempt to minimize the amount of pain associated with the procedure and the length of time to recover. I followed to the letter everything he, his associates and the physical therapists told me to do, and discovered, much to my surprise, the my recovery went much faster and more smoothly than expected. I now plan on having the 2nd knee done.

Bob
I had pain in my leg and Dr. Burns told me i needed a hip replacement. i said the pain is in my leg and not hip. He said it is coming from the hip. well a year and a half later i still have the same leg pain but now have hip pain and have a hard time walking. several visits with Burns he said the hip was fine and what do you want me to do. He has no concern for you at all, he just wants to do his surgery and walk away. Do yourself a big favor and see someone else.

Great Experience!
After the in-office x-ray of my knee, Dr. Burns thoroughly explained my condition and suggested not only immediate relief to drain the fluid and give a shot of cortisone, but also replacement as I have a bone on bone issue. I opted that day for immediate relief (which worked well) and will definitely call in the future for my knee replacement surgery.

A pleasure working with Dr. Burns
Another surgeon replaced my left knee in 2020 and I had significant post-surgical issues. I delayed having the right knee replaced because of my poor experience. I switched practices to Dr. Burns. He identified an issue with the replaced left knee and discussed how that problem would be avoided in repairing the right knee. I met with him twice before surgery to get a long list of questions answered. He was patient, factual and wanted me to feel as comfortable as possible before I had the procedure. There was good follow up after the surgery by Dr. Burns and his staff to make sure things were progressing.

I highly recommend Dr. Burns .
I had a right total knee replacement and had an excellent outcome from my surgery and physical therapy rehabilitation. I was bone on bone and had a severe deformity and at high risk to have damage to my nerve with surgery. I did not have any complications or nerve damage, due to Dr. Burns’s experience, expertise, and excellent surgical skills.
