Wonderful and Kind Surgeon
Dr. Savage did neck surgery on me (ACDF) and I could not be more pleased. He was the second opinion that I sought after feeling dismissed by other doctors. I immediately felt comfortable, listened to, and not rushed during the initial appointment. He really wanted to hear about my life and how the symptoms were impacting me as a person. Pre surgery, he personally called me the day before to see how I was doing and put my nerves at ease. In the operating room, he made sure to pause, look me in the eye and reassure me before I was put under. I had an excellent surgical outcome with all symptoms relieved. Thank you Dr. Savage for giving me my life back!!

Excellent surgeon
Dr. Savage took my case and performed surgery on my back in January 2021. Fort Wayne would not take my case. I was using a walker and could not stand or walk far. The surgery was a success and I had immediate relief. Now I am walking 2 miles a day and feeling strong.

Does very little with overall patient care before or after surgery. No attention to needs and follow up conditions of a patient. I would certainly check out other specialists. Good at selling what he does, but after that you are on your own.

Dr. Savage did emergency surgery on my husband last July for a spinal cord injury. My husband was in critical condition when he arrived at Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Savage saved my husband's life. He replaced several disc's in my husband's head and neck. He is an amazing surgeon and is very kind, compassionate and understanding. He explains things well and takes his time. He really cares about his patients and makes them feel comfortable. My husband is a return patient and Dr. Savage just did another spine surgery on him 2 days ago. We are in my husband's hospital room as I write this. Dr. Savage again did an excellent job with this surgery. I also need back surgery and honestly, I have been to scared to have it, until we found him. I will be coming to Dr. Savage myself for my back surgery, that's how much I trust him. My husband and I highly recommend Dr. Savage. He is excellent in his field and an excellent Surgeon. He is indeed a credit to Cleveland Clinic. We are very fortunate to have him in our area. We live approximently 3.5 hours away and drive here to be his patient. :) His office staff is also wonderful. They are very kind and helpful. 5 stars for them as well!

DR. SAVAGE IS AMAZING. I WAS UNABLE TO STAND OR WALK FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES WITHOUT BEING IN EXCRUTIATING PAIN. I WAS IN CONSTANT PAIN. DR. SAVAGE LISTENED TO ME AND DID ALL THE REQUIRED TESTS. HE DID SURGERY ON MY LOWER BACK - REBUILDING IT FROM L-1 TO L-5. I AM NOW 5 MONTHS OUT AND PAIN FREE. I EVEN WORE 3 1/2" HEELS AND NO PAIN. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE WHO IS SUFFERING FROM EXTREME BACK PAIN. HE IS A GREAT MAN WHO CARES ABOUT HIS PATIENTS.

Savage is a surgeon but NOT a physician. I had two back surgeries done by him. Probably should have been just one operation. This also would have eliminated some partial paralysis. Does careful skilled spine work and then likes to admire his work. Does little with overall patient care before or after surgery. Does not listen well and handles too many patients. Wait more than 75 minutes for office visits. Little attention to needs and follow up conditions of patient. I would certainly check out other specialists.

Dr. Savage is a kind and caring person but does not understand chronic pain due to nerve problems from bony anatomy problems of the back that cause pain. Lacking in his routine is a complete history prior to seeing Dr. Savage which can/does adversely affect his opinions. Dr. Savage as well as Cleveland Clinic as a whole is an antiopiod establishment that is ignorant of the effects of untreated and under treated pain. Looking for help there was a waste of time, energy and money.

I traveled from out of state to see a neurosurgeon at Cleveland, and was lucky enough to have Dr. Savage as my doctor. He is probably the nicest, most kind, and professional physician I have ever been treated by. I also saw his PA Alex, and he was equally as wonderful! They took extra time to discuss my problems and treatment options, and made me feel like my issues were important.
