Dr. Nicolson did my knee replacement surgery in Jan 2022. By his own admission he is very good, he's done over 4,000 which he tells you every visit. But not all of them are works of art and I came out of this worse then when I went in. According to him everything he did was perfect and I now need back surgery to fix my knee. Really ?? He's now done a Pontius Pilate so if your looking for aftercare don't count on it.

Total Posterior hip replacement
Dr. Nicholson is the best. Very professional and honest. Tells you exactly what you need to know and will answer all your questions. Gave me as much time as I needed and reassured me with his confidence. I had both hips total replacements done, first one in January 2020 great experience, wish I hadn’t waited so long. If I had only known it be so easy and now just 8 days ago July 24 2023 the other! He got me up and out of bed in recovery, not PT, not a nurse HIM! That to me speaks volumes and shows his concern and wellbeing for the patients. Funny, he even tied the sexy Hospital gown for me so no one got to see his pretty work, lol! My husband even commented on his care and was very pleased to see his follow through to the end and not just pass off to the nurses…. I appreciate an honest transparent dr. Both hips done and I’m proud to recommend Dr. James Nicholson! He’s your guy! I’m 8 days post hip replacement surgery and I’m walking with a cane. Everyday it gets better and better

Unparalleled Ortho Surgeon & P.A.
Dr. Nicholson and Grace were outstanding!! I can't sing their praises enough. They replaced my knee in November 2020. He was tough but honest. I appreciated that. If his experience, confidence and professionalism didn't outweigh the aggravation of the phone system, I'd have definitely gone elsewhere. Trish, the surgical coordinator in my experience was unprofessional, incompetent, & apathetic in my experience. I was only 47 when I had to have my knee replaced. That's how severe the deterioration was. I had been in excruciating pain for 2 years. My only expostulates would be that I felt like I was "shamed" for being on a minimum dose of pain medication prior to the surgery & was severely undermedicated post operatively. The stigma has to stop with this. Sometimes people need FDA approved opioid therapy. There is a time & a place. Nevertheless, I have a new knee and I am pain and medication free. I can run around with my grandchildren now. . . . . . . IN HIGH HEELS. Priceless.

Dr.James Nicholson performed bilateral knee surgery on me. He was extremely professional throughout the entire process. I feel like I have been given a gift and a new lease on life!! I can walk for miles now..bike ride...go up and down stairs..etc...where as previous I was suffering just getting up from a sitting position. His staff was just as wonderful and helpful. I would highly recommend Dr.James Nicholson! On a side note—I’ve been told by my physical therapists that my stitches were the best that they’ve ever seen!

THE BEST. Did right knee replacement June 2014. I'll be needing one on my left very soon. He gave me injection in my left knee March 2017, it lasted until October 2018 when I had another. I wouldn't think about going to anyone else.

Should have posted this review a long time ago. Shy of 2 years out since hip replacement. No problems. Would advise anyone in need of hip replacement to see Dr. Nicholson and get it done. Start to finish he's the man. Take it from a truck mechanic he's the best!

Dr. Nicholson performed my total knee replacement in March of 2018. I am thoroughly pleased with the outcome. After having a consult with a surgeon at HSS (X-rays took longer than the actual consul), I met with Dr. Nicholson at Stony Brook Orthopedics. He spent a full half hour with me, explaining the pros and cons of having the surgery at such a ‘young’ age (51], answered all my questions, and checked his own surgical schedule for an opening that had become available. Highly recommend!

Dr.Nicholson replaced my knees nine years ago. He did an excellent job. I have had no pain. I can ride a bike, jump, dance and do anything, swim, stand, walk, and I no longer use the cane that I needed for over Fifteen years. I have recommended four people to him, whom have all had excellent reasults. My husband had also seen him. He has an excellent office attitude. He is confident but he is far from rude or arrogant. I can not say enough about this wonderful man and excellent doctor.

I never had any surgery before meeting Dr. Nicholson. I had prior clinical experience and wanted to be sure I was making the best choice. He was highly recommended to me by several surgeons. I had a bilateral knee replacement on Dec.11. He was there with me and my family all the way, gracious and comforting. 4 weeks later I'm on my feet, performing as close to normal as it goes. I'm shocked by how fast my recovery was. In my book, he gets a 10.

Obviously has no respect for his patients and their time. Waited for hours just to be told while still in the waiting room that he is recommending another doctor. Meanwhile I am still in severe pain and have not been treated yet. Very upset and disappointed. Don't waiste your time unless you have a lot to spare.

Had my right hip replaced 7 weeks following my left hip in aug of '16 ( second surgery in sept of '16) it went easier than the first and I was again up on my feet in a day and home from hospital second day after surgery- walking unaided at less than two weeks. I cant stress enough how amazing both surgeries went with no pain and very little recovery. Id recommend having hips done asap if needed & by Dr Nicholson.I'm back playing sports and I cant remember the pain I lived with.

He listened to me, gave his expert information clearly and freely, then performed hip replacement flawlessly. Had a low fever a couple of days post-op when I got home and he came to the house to check up. Was back to work in less than 2-weeks and full recovery is going great!

He has got to be the most cocky, passive aggressive, condescending Doctor I have ever met. It's quite obvious that he believes he's the best on Long Island or quite possibly in all of New York State. He seems to forget, that WE as patients are the REASON he has a practice. I have never written a review on a physician, quite frankly because I've never had an experience like this.
