Dr. James Heerwagen, MD

Dr. Heerwagen was recommended for my total hip replacement from a prior patient. I couldn’t be more pleased with his expertise and care. From his assistant Tara, and on, everyone is pleasant and professional. Communication is excellent. Surgery went as planned. Currently On week 6 and feeling stronger every day. The hospital in Flower Mound was equally as positive, yet I think a 2 day stay is better than 1, but I suppose that’s how the insurance/ surgeons do it. I heard some surgeons send you home same day.?? It’s painful, but Dr. H and his staff make it as easy and smooth as possible.

I was referred to another practice for a hip labral tear and when the practice I was referred to kept ignoring my pain concerns and request for repairs due to my age, Dr Heerwagan assured me my request was valid based on my current hip anatomy and offered to personally call that physician to get me seen. Thank goodness for doctors willing to advocate for their older patients.

Saw him. He did X-rays & MRI. PA called & gave results. Scheduled surgery, He did a good job explaining what was wrong.

Dr. Heerwagen was very thorough and took the time to listen to my concerns. His information was very helpful.

Dr. Heerwagen and his nurses are excellent! He always well informs me of my options and I never feel rushed. Feel blessed if you can receive medical care from him!

I saw Dr Herrwagen as a follow-up for a fractured kneecap I sustained in FL. It was a much better experience than I had in FL. The whole team from intake through X-ray and brace specialist was patient and concerned for my comfort. Dr Heerwagen reviewed the X-rays with me and spent time ensuring I knew exactly what I was dealing with, and what my options were and healing plan looked like.

Badly sprained possibly broken hand/wrist. Consummate professional took great?care of me and more importantly, put my mind at ease knowing I was right where I needed to be.

Dr Heerwagen has done numerous surgeries on me and was very personable and professional. He’s highly skilled and extremely intelligent in his field. I have and will continue to recommend him to anyone who needs orthopedic care.

Dr. Heerwagen is the best! He has performed four surgeries on me and he is very thorough. He is spot on with all his diagnoses and is able to tell me everything that is going on. His entire office staff is kind and professional. I highly recommend him. Listen to him and you will be fine.

Dr Heerwagen has been helping me with old, tired arthritic knees. Replaced my right knee in late September and it is New Years now and I’m totally satisfied with his work! I trust him whole heartily. I met no less than 4 people working in the hospital that he has performed surgery on with great success. We know that I will need the left knee in a few years and I will use him again. He has been a blessing in my life.

Dr Heerwagen removed a large tumor from my thigh and the surgery went so smoothly. My post op course also went smoothly. he answered all my questions and has an excellent bedside manner. He has also treated other members of my family and they have done very well under his care. I would go to Dr Heerwagen again.

I am deeply unsatisfied with Dr. Heerwagen's attitude towards his patients. I went to see him twice and Dr spent not more than 3 minutes with me, saying that everything looks good, although I told him, that I had increasing pain each day and could barely walk. I had to go to another doctor, who sent me for MRI to finally find what was bothering me. My advice for Dr. Heerwagen would be to pay more attention to his patients. I would never recommend this doctor. Very bad experience!

Dr. Heerwagen is a great doctor and I have the upmost respect and confidence in him.

He is absolutely amazing! Professional, courteous, kind and generous. I hope I don't ever need another hip replacement, but if I do, I will seek him out again. His encouragement helped me navigate the whole recovery process with ease and confidence. Thank you Dr. Heerwagen!!!

Knowledgeable, professional, but also personal. I felt that he saw me as a person and not just another operation he was performing. He answered my questions in a way that was understandable to a lay person.
