Gallbladder bile leak
Two days after my surgery to remove my Gallbladder, I began having severe gut wrenching pain in my abdomen! My wife called for an ambulance! I was transported back to Northside Gwinnett hospital emergency, waited for hours until a MD came to work! I was there, unconscious, from Sat midnight until Tuesday afternoon when I awoke. A Dr was standing beside my bed. I asked him what was happening, and he said there is a bile leak! Another Dr was preparing to install a stent to drain bile from my abdomen. I called my wife and she was a wreck! No one had called. I was put back to sleep, again, and the stent was installed. Six weeks later, I was put to sleep again for the Dr to remove the stent. But, surprise, the stent was gone!

I took my husband to Dr Elsey for a lump in his groin. Dr Elsey blew it off saying it was nothing. No ultrasound or CT ordered. Our primary care doctor was concerned and ordered tests. Turned out to be leiomyosarcoma, a very aggressive cancer that took his life. Not sure if early detection would have helped, but I would not recommend Dr Elsey to anyone for anything.

Dr. Elsey saved my life! I went into hospital with another kidney infection. This one turned out to be septic, quickly and I was in ICU for 5 days. Nothing was helping to rid this infection. Any longer and my organs were gonna start shutting down. After a consult with Dr. Anglade. They decided to cut open my hip, 10 inches. Ouch. Within a few days I was amazed at how much better I started feeling. I was in the hospital for almost a month and a day did not go by that Dr. Elsey didn't check in on me with a big smile. I absolutely love Dr. James Elsey and I HIGHLY recommend him for any of your surgical needs. He is so caring and compassionate and he listens to his patience. God bless Dr. Elsey.

Dr Elsey was caring, compassionate. He took all the time we needed to explain my condition and the recommended treatment. My surgery was scheduled 4 days later and because I trusted Dr. Elsey I was at ease knowing my life was in his hands. He took complete, thorough care of me and after one night in the hospital I am home recovering. I wish I could give him more than 5 stars : )

Dr. Elsey was called in to evaluate my right leg, which was diagnosed with flesh- eating bacteria He immediately scheduled surgery the very next day, which was a Sunday and erased most of the bacteria. He rescheduled another surgery to make sure they were all gone. Dr. Elsey literally saved my leg. Had he waited one day, which was a Monday, the bacteria could have moved into my bones and then he would have had to take off my whole leg. I would recommend Dr. Elsey to everyone because he is very skillful, very understanding, very caring, very supportive and comforting. I will always remember his loving look when he said to me "I will take care of you, don't worry." His sincere eyes gave me courage when I was so scared that I might have to lose my right leg, my driving leg no less. God bless Dr. Elsey for the great work that he is doing for many people. Love always. Maureen Solomon.

I will never recommend Dr. Elsey to anyone. He should have stayed retired. I experienced very low patient care from him since he was the on call surgeon to have my gallbladder removed unexpectedly. Takes no time with you, sees you as filling his pockets, a numbers game, his techniques are very poor and old, no current education, rushes everything, doesn’t take into consideration what the patient wants. Very old school in is way with patient recovery. Please, do not send a loved one to him. Gwinnett Medical Center should be ashamed having a doctor like him still employed.

I had been having gallbladder attacks for years. I had a couple of doctors to do tests on me and they came back normal. My gastroenterologist said my gallbladder could be bad even if the tests came back normal. He referred me to Dr. Elsey. I called for an appointment on Monday and by Wednesday my gallbladder had been removed I am so thankful that Dr. Elsey listened to me. He said my gallbladder was diseased and needed to be removed. I highly recommend him. He is a kind, caring doctor.

From the moment we met Dr. Elsey, we felt very comfortable. He put us at ease in a serious situation. He told us how serious her condition was and that he was going to fix it. We appreciate the fact that he was up-front with us and assured us that he was going to do everything in his power to return her to health. He literally saved her life, and for that we are forever grateful. We highly recommend Dr. Elsey to any and all who need help.

My dad, William Childers was in the hosp. with very serious medical problems. Dr. Elsey was on of our Doctors caring for him. It was a very emotional time for us with it being touch and go at times. Dr. Elsey was very direct & to the point in helping us understand the seriousness of the situation & the medical Plan of action that he felt was best. As a surgical nurse I appreciate the medical knowledge & wisdom given. He showed such compassion & concern like we were family. Highly recommended

We appreciate Dr. Elsey's personal concern. We could not have asked for more use of his medical knowledge and compassion during such a difficult and scary time medically. We felt him to be a real genuine caring human being and doctor. He treated us as if we were a member of his own family. We feel very fortunate to have had him as our doctor making the absolute best health decisions for us. Sincerely, William and Thelma Childers
