I have never had a Dr who has listened to and addressed my concerns like Dr Cruz! He validated my symptoms & focused on finding the causes vs just treating my symptoms. I left with answers and a solid plan of care instead of a bandaid. It is rare to find a provider this knowledgeable and invested in one's health! I had a total wait time of about 40 minutes between, vitals, labs, waiting for a room and waiting for Dr Cruz to enter the room. The staff communicated all the wait times and what I should expect each step of the way. It was apparent Dr Cruz had prepped for my visit. He reviewed my lab work, past history, medications and previous visits so he didn't waste time re-asking all of the questions I had already answered filling out the forms. My visit with Dr Cruz was not rushed at all and I left feeling like my time was respected. The phlebotomist was top notch and obtained my labs with one stick which never happens for me! I am completely satisfied with Dr Cruz's services!

I will say, visit with Dr Cruz was ok but this office does not CARE about it's patients. They do not answer the phone, their office staff is indifferent to the needs of the patients. I was warned that this was the case by previous patients, but I thought it could not be that bad. Boy was I wrong. I spoke to their billing dept but the person who does their billing was no help at all and would not even try. The insurance co gave me a reference number for the dr office to call and straighten out the discrepancy - I went to the dr office - they refused to call the insurance co - it was not their problem - it was mine and I needed to straighten it out myself. It would have taken just a few minutes of this persons time to help me out - but they just did not care. Conclusion - If Dr Cruz does not care how his office staff is treating his patients I really don't want to be treated by him.

Office Staff
Worst visit ever. The staff there, especially Dawn, is extremely rude, unprofessional and very confrontational. They do not know how to speak with patients or explain things. I've been going there for years, but never again. It's sad because Dr Cruz and his NP Margaret, are so professional, kind and understanding. I will never go back.

Insincere, No Eye Contact
Doctor Cruz cannot keep eye contact very well. This expression feels disingenuous while he delivers a well rehearsed dialogue of information regarding thyroid issues and autoimmunity. I usually wait 30 minutes for the doctor to enter the room. I had him walk out of the room on me while I was still asking questions once. I don't believe he is knowledgable in hormonal imbalances for women in menopause. I have had two visits with Dr. Cruz, I feel at this time I will move on and find an Endocrinologist that is female.

Incompetent office staff
This is the mostunprofessional Doctor office I have ever had to deal with. If you happen to get Dawn on the phone, you’ll find that not only is she rude but lazy too. This office opens at 8:30, if you call at 8:45, 2pm or 3pm etc, you'll STILL get a message saying the office is closed and to call back during office hours. So apparently, office hours are just whenever.Doctor Cruz knows about all the negative reviews that he has. I told him in person in one of our visits. He said he didn't care what the reviews said.

Run Away!!!
Wow - so many bad reviews and they're all true! Doctor Cruz seems nice, but his staff is rude, disorganized and confrontational. As a spouse of a patient I spent the better part of 6 months trying to settle issues with billing as they hold your appointment 'hostage' until you pay the 'unpaid' balance before they'll let you see him or Ms Fernandez. Problem is, the balance was already paid. I even had my insurance call them and heard the phone ring and they wouldn't answer it. I have the feeling this practice knows what's going on and there's serious issues that those within know about, if you catch my drift. I kept up until the $200 overbilled to us was returned. No sooner did we receive that refund and they suddenly shut down my portal. Good riddance to bad doctors and their practice!!! I hope Medicare some day orders an audit of this office. I think Dawn and her cohort at the front desk need to meet Jesus.

Dr. Cruz's office is managed by unprofessional staff. The phone goes unanswered. They don't bill balances owed, instead, they wait for the return visit, in my case, a year (I have yearly appointments) to bill for balance owed, and for services rendered. When asked, why I was not sent an invoice with my balance, I was told, 'it's not their practice', 'it's the patients responsibility to look at their EOB'. I called Aetna to inquire about the claim and was told, they never received the claim. The representative called Dr. Cruz's office, and received no response. When I called the billing coordinator, I was told they have proof a claim was submitted, they were not going to resubmit the claim, as it is over a year old, and I would not be reimbursed. I was not allowed to explain that they had the incorrect group number on the claim before I was hung up on. She would not let me speak. The girl at the front desk threw papers at me for asking about their billing process.

Disappointed Patient – Jan 26, 2024

Lack of respect
I haven’t even made it to the office to leave a review on the doctor. I have heard he’s an excellent doctor. Unfortunately the staff doesn’t seem to be as good. I have called and left many messages, Probably eight times. the second or third time I did get in and They asked me to send my insurance cards which I did within 30 minutes. I can’t get anybody to return my calls about getting in to see him as a referred patient. Very unfortunate. Sometimes the doctor doesn’t know how his staff handles things.

DR. CRUZ GET RID OF YOUR BILLING PERSON DAWN
My visits are amazing. Dr. Cruz and the staff up front have always been pleasant to deal with and they're very kind and understanding. Please do not get my wrong. My review is for Dawn the billing person. i will not call her a specialist because she specializes in nothing but causing people headaches. She will not answer calls from myself or my insurance. She has made this whole experience miserable for myself. And I will not be returning to their office for a single thing unless they get someone in there that knows what they're doing. She has not one clue how to be responsive or kind. It's a shame because Dr. Cruz is quite the opposite. I wish that I had read and believed the reviews however I am paying the price for it now. Please RUN from this office unless you like fighting insurance to pay for lab bills becuase DAWN can't possible do her job she is paid to do.

If I could put 0 stars I would. Especially because of the lazy office manager DAWN and office staff . She yelled at me because I wanted to tell her that I've been trying to reach them for over an hour. And she said they will call back. Also THEY DONT HAVE TO ANSWER THE PHONE IF THEY DO NOT WANT TO. And she would not help me to find out what's going on with my lab results (thats just plan laziness). She hung up on me. And I had to call back, she answered and still every rude. So I'll be looking for a new doctor. Also Dr.Cruz knows what's going on with his laziness manager DAWN and staff. Obviously he don't care that much about his patience. Because if he did they would all be fired..

Incredibly Caring Doctor; Front Office Challenges
Dr. Cruz is an incredibly kind and very caring doctor. I really, really like him and would recommend him to anyone in need of an endocrinologist. I have never felt that he is rushing me through an appointment, and I always feel as if he is taking the time to explain my medical condition in a way that makes sense while answering my questions. He truly is a wonderful doctor. I do agree with other reviews that it is impossible to get anyone from his office to actually answer a phone, so scheduling an appointment is super frustrating. I also agree that while the patient portal has a lot of fantastic features (contains test results, can see your patient notes, etc), because the scheduling and front office is so challenging it is compounded by the fact that the messaging feature in the patient portal just doesn't seem to be enabled. I haven't had any billing issues (yet) so i can't comment on their billing staff. Highly recommend Dr. Cruz, though...

Dr Cruz is great
Dr. Cruz is the first doctor I have had that actually took the time to explain my thyroid problem and I feel like he genuinely cares. I give him 5 stars personally but the accessibility/ communications is a bit lacking so i gave 4 overall. I have a hard time getting in touch. The patient portal doesn't let me send messages or I would try to communicate that way. I do appreciate my test results were uploaded. I would recommend him any day but would say there is a small price to pay in some areas, but overall he is good and worth it.

Will not go back
I have been seeing Dr. Cruz for over 10 years. I have never had an issue with Dr. Cruz's care or NP Fernandez's care. They are nothing but sweet. However, since I have been pregnant, I had to have more visits. Every visit they are charging me more than my copay, and after speaking with insurance, they are indeed, over charging me. I sent all the appropriate documents, per the billing department request, and I receive no call back for over 3 weeks. And when Dawn finally called me back, she was extremely rude, kept telling me I was wrong. Even though insurance had already processed all my visits. She wouldn't listen. She said majority of my visits have not been paid by insurance. When my EOBs clearly state they have been processed and paid. I told her I did not appreciate her attitude and she said "Likewise" and hung up with me. So now, I am no longer going to continue my care through this office. Which is a shame because I really liked Dr. Cruz as a provider.
