Dr. J Payton, DO

I am not surprised to see such low ratings. I normally see a different, wonderful doctor at this practice, but unfortunately had to see Dr Payton on 2 occasions. At one visit, I had a sore throat. The other was a pre-kindergarten checkup for my son. Seemingly straightforward, easy visits. But I left in tears both times due to the arrogance of this odd man. (And I'm not a whiner) He made me feel like a horrible person and an unfit mother, of which I am neither. Once, while visiting my OB/GYN, I was telling him how bad this doctor made me feel. But I couldn't remember his name. My OB/GYN said - It sounds like Dr Payton. I've had to call him a few times because of complaints like this. So that let me know I wasn't imaging his poor treatment.

Went to him years ago for bronchitis. He asked me why I came to see him..... couldn't I have just gone to the drugstore and bought some medicine?! He is demeaning and arrogant. Will never recommend this man whom I also will never call a doctor

Do NOT see this "physician." Family been patients of another physician (phenomenal care) in this practice for 15 years. Every instance where we had to seek care from Payton because of unavability by the other practitioners, the care by has been substandard, from prescribing improper meds to ignoring patient's wishes. As someone going through medical training now, this person has demonstrated ZERO characteristics of what it means to be a competent and compassionate physician.

Called the office when my doctor (in that practice) was out in order to ask questions about tests. Dr. Payton took the call and was rude, uncaring, and had an overall horrible manner of dealing with my concerns. Was not the least surprised to find that others rated him so low. I will probably change doctors as a results of my experience. Although he is not my doc, he has convinced me that I want nothing to do with how they do business at this practice.
