Poor communicator
Dr. Lown walked into the exam room and leaned over and looked at my 92 year-old mother's finger and said 'gout'. He continued to mumble and I said she was deaf and could not hear. He said he was talking to his assistant. His entire feedback during his exam was 'gout'. We would have not gotten any other information if I had not asked him questions. He did not tell her to discontinue soaking her finger and to stop taking the antibiotic prescribed by an urgent care clinic. I only got those answers by asking the questions myself. Worst bedside manner I have ever seen. He seemed totally bored.

A Great Doctor!
I had some procedures performed by Dr. Lown a few years back and forgot to leave a review. I must say that my carpal tunnel syndrome and pain from a trigger finger plus a trigger thumb is gone and has not returned since the surgeries he performed. He's just a straightforward guy who explains problems well. Has a good temperament and a most wonderful staff of professionals working in his office!

Find a better surgeon.
Lown performed endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery on both hands. Left hand was fine, right hand was worse. Went to a different hand doctor who preformed conventional surgery on the right. The tunnel wasn't opened on the first surgery, and I had tendon damage from the surgery. EDIT: A couple of months ago, I started having symptoms in my left had. A nerve conduction test confirms I have carpal tunnel again, and will require an additional surgery. That makes two out of two surgeries that Lown performed that will be redone.

Bad communicator
He operated on my hand but he did tell me about what his plan was. I assumed he remembered clearly where he needed to put his focus. As a result, he cut adjacent to the area of interest, severing nerves unnecessarily. He later tried to gaslight me, claiming we had drawn on my hand where he needed to focus. That never happened. Thus he is dishonest in addition to being a bad communicator.

Dr. Lown performed surgery to remove a cyst from my hand. I thought I would a local anesthetic and was surprised when I showed up for surgery to hear that it would be general anesthesia. He told me before surgery that I would have a couple of stitches and soreness for a couple of weeks. It turned out to be much more than that and a much bigger deal. He also did a bad job with the stitches and they came untied after a week. When I called to complain, he tried to convince me that I had "popped" a stitch, even though I told him that it was not tied correctly and I watched it slowly unraveled over a few days. He kept implying that I did something to "pop" the stitch. I was also . surprised to have numbness in two fingers that might be permanent. He said something might have happened when he moved those fingers out of the way during surgery. He is not good at building a relationship or trust with patients and he is not good at setting expectations. I do not recommend him.

The office staff and assistant were efficient and and very professional. I was impressed. But I'm in my 60s and I've never actually had a doctor YAWN IN MY FACE (twice!) and seem quite bored during the 5 minutes of my exam. I have no dispute with the medical advice or recommendations. But the manner was disappointing, to say the least. I can't recommend someone who thinks that behavior is acceptable. Find someone else who seems at least a little interested in their patients. We all deserve better.

Dr. Lown's cool people. He is too the point and very good at what he does. Had broken my 5th metacarpal. Dr Google made the surgery look pretty rough, and with much scaring. Dr. Lown made it simple, and I have next to no scaring from it now. Incredible. Trustworthy professional expert of his field. That's hard to find lately. Physical Therapist did a great job too. Very friendly and did what she needed to ensure 100% recovery fast.

He is really kind and laid back. He did a very complicated hand surgery for my husband involving a lot of previous injuries, surgeries, and scar tissue and the surgery was very successful. We love Dr. Lown.

I selected Dr. Lown after viewing his credentials and the positive reviews about him online. He performed my carpal tunnel surgery. I had no postop pain whatsover, and I'm happy to report that all of my symptoms are completely resolved. In addition, he had a good bedside manner and was thorough in his teaching. Thank you, Dr. Lown!

Dr Lown was recommended to me by a friend. I checked out the reviews on several sites, and scheduled an appointment for my moderate arthritis based upon the reviews. To claim he treats arthritis is a bit of a stretch. Treatment, in his opinion, is topical cream and/or surgery! I had to ask questions to fill in the blanks while he yawned several times. Seemed bored. I was told the staff would order a special anti-inflammatory cream which turned out to be Lidocaine & Diclofenac Gel.
