Surgical patient a few years ago. I received excellent care from Dr. Abed, who was most professional and caring. As a retired RN, I am very satisfied with the astute care I received.

Great Doctor
Dr. Abed is by far the best doctor I have ever been to. I am 58 years old and have had 4 children. He has changed my life. He is kind, gentle and cares for his patients. I suffered for years until I was seen and treated by Dr. Abed, now I have a better quality of life and am grateful for having Dr. Abed as my uro-gynocologist.

Outstanding
We have seen Dr. Abed for the last 4+ years, for help with my elderly mother, who we thought was experiencing interstitial cystitis. Dr. Abed was very attentive, thoughtful and considerate. He offered another solution beyond merely diet changes, and the improvement has been miraculous. Mom is now 95 and we still see Dr. Abed regularly. I cannot recommend him highly enough!

Great doctor
Dr. Abed has done a great job regarding my prolapse. I thought only option was surgery but he directed me towards using a pessary instead and so far I have been very happy. He takes his time and answers all questions. I have never felt rushed by him at all. Would highly recommend him!

Excellent Surgeon
I have known Dr. Abed for a long time and had 2 successful surgeries with him. He was recommended to me by my former gyn at HFH in Detroit who called him a 'rock star' of a surgeon. He had assisted Dr. Abed in surgery and felt he was an excellent surgeon. My surgeries were successful and with a minimum of discomfort. His follow up and attention to patient care is wonderful. I continue to see him in his new practice in Grand Rapids and would recommend him to anyone.

In my opinion, as a patient and a medical professional, Dr Abed is the most competent and skilled urogynecologist in Grand Rapids. After being shuffled around between other urogyn physicians/surgeons for 3 years- I am extremely thankful to be have Dr Abed as my doctor. He listens, takes his time, communicates very clearly what his assessment is, educating along the way. He fixed my chronic pain on my very first visit with a pessary, after having nearly constant bladder spasms since my surgery with Dr Platte. Dr. Lalley told me I had I.C. Do not waste your time/money/well-being by going to see Platte/Leary/Lalley. Go to the best, the first time- go straight to Dr Abed.

He told me that pelvic organ prolapse happens to all women and said pessary's are preventative, telling me his 17-year old daughter wears one. Denied prolapse being genetic or due to birth even thought the education sheet said those were the EXACT reasons for it. He told me that I shouldn't let my daughter exercise because then she will get it. When asked what I could let her do, he said "she can swim." He told me I had to wear a pessary for the rest of my life (I'm 32). When asked how you have sex, instead of telling me I can take it out, he told me we can go "under it."

Horrible. Diagnosed me with something I don’t have before he even examined me. Told me I have symptoms I don’t have and put in a pessary ring that I don’t need. I don’t know why he’s listed as an Iv specialist because he doesn’t believe it’s real.

The dr. was kind and was very gentle in handling my procedure. He not only explained everything in detail and if I didn't understand something, he would explain it in a different way so that I would. He answered every question I had to my satisfaction. Great bedside manner. As for the rest of the staff, they were all very nice, they didn't treat me like just a patient but like a friend. I would recommend this dr and his staff to anyone needing this type of care.

A mistake was made by him. He wants to go in and fix his mistake. I am scared for him to do this. Friends think i should seek another doctor. I researched for a good surgeon to do the repairs I needed. I thought Dr Abed was a good choice but now im not so sure.

Dr Abed is an excellent physician. He is kind and extremely intelligent. I was so lucky to find him. He answered all my questions before and after my surgery. I would recommend him to anyone at anytime. When I needed to have surgery sooner rather then later he opened up an extra surgery day for me and was able to get me in sooner then the three previous doctors I had talked to. He is excellent and has changed my life for the better. I am forever grateful to him.

Dr Abed is extremely educated and understanding. Answered all questions I had about the vaginal prolapse/rectocele./pessaryuse. He calmed my fears and left all decisions mine to make. I feel Dr Abed has more compassion about his work and find him to be very humble. Seeking another opinion as normal, this surgical repair was better for me than self catherizing twice daily to relieve my kidneys- I was misdiagnosed! I'm extremely greatful to have found Dr Abed to get my quality of life back.
