Buckled and re-attached! – Nov 08, 2022

Unprofessional
Had to interact with Dr. Howard Charles one weekend when he was on call. After he left multiple incomplete voice messages for me that were far from valid, he decided to muster up the courage and finally speak with me directly. After explaining why his orders were not valid, he gives me a condescending attitude proceeds to have a toddler like temper tantrum. Clearly his time is more important than that of patients and other healthcare professionals to the point where everyone else is suppose to just overlook his errors and omissions. Completely unprofessional attitude and behavior from Dr. Howard Charles

I went to see Dr. Charles for a second opinion regarding my recently diagnosed macular degeneration. He explained my condition and the treatment for it very well and gave me the impression that he would continue to be open to any questions I might have in the future. His office staff was very friendly. All this stood in stark contrast with the doctor who was treating me, and I am switching to Dr. Charles.

I have been seeing Dr Charles for 10 years. He repaired a partially detached retina at that time. He's a skilled surgeon and a very decent human being.

In 1991 I had a retinal tear without detachment. Dr. Charles opted for cryotherapy. He conferred with Dr. Kalkut, primary physician at the time, who concurred with Dr. Charles' decision. the procedure was successful. Dr. Charles took care of me for over twenty years. He is an excellent physician with a kind caring manner. My physicians in Virginia comment on the level of care I initially received with Dr. Charles.

Dr. Charles has been treating me for age related macular degeneration complicated by multiple sclerosis for a few years. He has always listened to what I have to say, is compassionate and clearly explains what is going on, what he is going to do and what I can expect. His office staff has always been great! I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Charles to friends family and even strangers.

I was referred to him by my regular doctor, but his advice was ‘to google’ my condition. He was halfway out the door before I could even open my mouth and ask him a question, and he knew I had traveled just to see him. He was arrogant and rude. What a waste of time and money. I was so disappointed with his show of professionalism and his care for patients

In. Collaboration with a doctor from Cornwall, attempted to deceive me into having emergency eye surgery. 10 years later and annual eye exams, still have excellent vision with an intact Retina
