Dangerous and Greedy
I saw Dr. Hurowitz for about 7 years. I first saw him in college due to anxiety. The cocktail of meds he put me on eventually caused seizures, depression, and narcolepsy. He was constantly changing meds and I became unrecognizable to myself but was convinced by him it was more serious mental illness. He continued to treat me out of state illegally when I moved. He would just call for a few minutes every month and send more meds. He also started me on an opioid I wound up addicted to. When he wanted me to check in with him in person, I had to book a flight ASAP and then when my flight was late, he screamed at me, slammed his door, and refused to refill my medications even though several had a risk of dying for stopping them cold turkey. Thankfully I found another doctor who weaned me off his drug cocktail, and guess what, aside from one med, I haven't needed anything else and am back to the person I was before he ruined 10 years of my life.

This doctor totally put me in jeopardy. It started in the hospital where he decided to put me on provigil . I got extremely agitated confused and paranoid on it and he refused to accept that it was doing that to me saying “how do you know it’s the provigil?” even tho the resident saw it and put me on an antipsychotic to quell what it was doing to me. The antipsychotic worked and once I went off the provigil I was no longer in that stare which proved that it was related to the provigil yet he still wouldn’t accept it and tried to get me to stay on it. I would have ended up in a state hospital if I took his advice. The scary thing is that because he has seniority at the hospital the resident ceased all clinical observation and he somehow seduced her into believing that it had nothing to do with the provigil even after she saw what happened and how when I went off it I was no longer in a dangerous state. I moronically decided to continue to see him and he put me on strattera and the same

I have been seeing him for close to 20 years. After all this time I’m sorry to say I will no longer be using him. The quality of care he now provides is below par. He kept me waiting close to half an hour, knowing I travelled 2 hours to see him. He’s become arrogant and is lacking the compassion that Is vital in the role of a persons psychiatrist.

Best psychiatrist I've worked with by far. Works with you instead of enforcing his beliefs. Very knowledgeable and explains his reasoning very well. Would recommend to anyone that can afford his price. His office/waiting room are also beautiful and in a great location.

I have seen Dr. Hurowitz for many years. He is an incredibly talented psychiatrist. Dr. Hurowitz is an excellent diagnostician, he is a wizard with medication, and is a fine man who truly cares about his patients. He has a great personalty. He is likable, nonjudgmental, humorous, and very knowledgable about many subjects- all of which dovetail beautifully into his interventions. He is genuine, earthy, unpretentious, and openminded to his patient's ideas & input regarding treatment. Love him
