Seeing him for the 2nd go around.
I read these reviews and thought my goodness did they really see the Dr B I saw. He’s legit the best, hands down. I love his personality, and the man is sharp. Does he beat around the bush? No, he’s thorough and down to business with fixing your body’s damage. Period. I recommend him to everyone. His staff is pretty awesome as well. I was impressed 2 years ago and I’m seeing him again for another injury and I’m still just as impressed as the first go around.

Rude, condescending and horrible bedside manner.
I was sent to his office for an IME, I fully understand workers comp was writing his check so I was aware where I stood, but nothing prepared me for how I was spoken to and treated by this man. He was only interested in trying to manipulate my words, and speak to me in an inferior manner. I had asked for my husband to come into the room with me which I was told he could not. During his exam he was less than gentle on tender areas and it was obvious he cared less what medically I was feeling and what was going on. I would not recommend him to anyone, unfortunately I had no choice as it was workers comp related. If you are seeking a doctor that listens, cares, and has a sliver of a bedside manner, this one is definately NOT the one for you.

Very rude and unprofessional
I have never experienced such a rude and disrespectful physician. My case manager apologized for how he spoke to me but admitted she was shocked at his behavior. His staff are excellent but he is a miserable man.

Seek another Doctor
I was sent here by workman’s comp for a shoulder injury and I wish they would have sent me anywhere else. He has horrible bedside manners. Asked me what kind of pain meds I have had after other surgeries and when I tell him his response was, “I am not prescribing you any of those.” First of all he asked me what I’ve taken. I didn’t tell him what I wanted. He does not care at all about how much pain you are in. I am now having to seek a second opinion from another surgeon because I have continuously expressed how much pain I am still in 8 months after surgery. His only statement was “you just have a low pain tolerance.” Run. Far away. Do NOT allow this man to operate on you.

Dr. Bonnarens appears to know and perform his work very well. I trusted him to fix my left shoulder, which is 100% improved. Now I trust him to fix my right shoulder. He's a great conversationalist too. I usually wear a band t-shirt when I see him, and he usually asks me about them; we share a love of heavy metal music.

Went to this doctor for a workman's comp case many years ago. He sent me to physical therapy knowing that my patella was not in place. He and his buddy the physical therapist continued therapy 3 times a week. When I was discharged I went to another local Ortho doctor... Needless to say a week late I was having acres put in my patella to hold it together from all the damaged caused because of injury and lack of care by this doctor. I wouldn't take my worst enemy to him. Sorry I have zero faith or trust in him.

Very very good doctor. I’ve torn my meniscus twice now. The first time a dr. In bowling green did my surgery and the pain never went away. Dr. Bonnarens ordered an MRI told me exactly what my problem was, ordered the surgery and had me all fixed up. He’s very blunt and to the point which I like, no try this or try that, he went in, fixed my knee and now I’m pain free. Since I’ve healed I’ve been able to play ball with my kids and enjoy life again. I’ve lost weight and feel like a whole new perso

Dr. Bonnarens operated on my knee. The procedure was done at the out patient center in New Albany. This center was first class. They were prompt, courteous and just all around awesome to deal with. Dr. Bonnarens visited with me before the surgery, told me exactly was the procedure was, and answered all my questions. He fixed my ACL and MCL and cleaned out the back of my knee cap that I had managed to “chip”. He did this on a Friday morning and by Tuesday I was climbing stair pain free!

I went in to this guy, and told him I had a HECK of a time trying to sleep at night, and he verified I have a torn labrum. I had one request: Can he give me a steroid shot to alleviate the pain, or provide some kind of non-narcotic pain reliever, so I can sleep, because like most humans, I need to sleep. He literally walked away. I even went so far as to call them after, telling them I was frustrated, and needed guidance. This Doctor does not care. I will NOT go back to this Doctor.

Like everyone else who has made reviews out here, my experience is unfortunately the same. I explained to him my issue. Told him my problem. Explained that I don't want pain meds to make me sleep during the day, and simply asked what are the alternatives? I even said "over the counter", and I reiterated that I just got hired and I have a new boss. I wasn't fishing for pain meds, and wanted something simple, until I got into see the Physical Therapist. He literally walked away.

He is a good Dr. but poor beside manners. Towards end of my visit he said, Next time tell me its your ankle not your foot. I did not know how to take him... maybe he was having a bad day or just being rude. He seen my x-rays and he knew I broken my ankle. His staff is friendly and nice.

Dr. Bonnarens is an excellent surgeon. He operated on my husband's shoulder. Unfortunately he does not have a good bedside manner. He doesn't really listen to his patients or spend a lot of time with them. He has his own agenda and forgets that every patient is different and heals at different times. His staff is very friendly.
