Dr. Joseph Laratta, MD

The boy took a broken man and through his expertise and skill, got me up and walking again. I will sing his praises the rest of my days. Definately recommended to anyone who has something that he can fix. Chuckle....I will even take my Subaru to him.

If there was 6 stars Dr. Laretta would surely deserve them. After 24 years of chronic pain starting with a whiplash injury, he fused with clips & replaced my disc.. I had no bone muscle or nerve pain day 1. 4 weeks in a cervical collar I'm doing whatever I want. I have a bone growth stimulator for 6-9 months & 42 days of antibiotics. So he leaves nothing to chance. Dr Laretta even though, he stays very busy always took as long as I needed at visits and has a very uplifting spirit. God gifted for sure.

Dr. Laratta, and Dr. Shillingford have platinum standard quality of care. I had acdf surgery on Saturday March 9th 2024 and was treated like a King. I am truly grateful for the level of care I received from them and the rest of the staff at UofL Mary Elizabeth hospital.

He did my surgery a little over 4 years ago and my Daughter's. Even after 4 years, it's the best thing I ever had done. Follow His instructions and no short cuts

I had my first appointment with Dr. Laratta recently and I was very favorably impressed for a couple of reasons. First, Dr. Laratta seemed to very quickly understand my condition through insightful questions. He was able to get the x-rays he needed the same day. Because of the level of pain I had, his assistant went the extra mile to arrange for important additional imaging (MRI & CT scan) the same week. I'm looking forward to my follow-up appointment.

Dr. Laratta listened to me and took the time to understand me. The personal approach that he has is something that is really important to me as a patient. After a really bad experience at another spine specialist. I was referred to Dr. Laratta and am so happy that I listened to my gut and made the switch to his practice.

Dr. Laratta and his staff are the best Louisville has to offer. Dr. Laratta performed surgery (microdiscectomy) on my L5-S1 disc in an attempt to mitigate severe leg pain I had endured for nearly two years. I always considered surgery on my spine to be a last resort so when it was time to consider taking that step, I made sure I researched both my surgery and whom I wanted to help me. Dr. Laratta had more reviews than any doctor in Louisville and all of his patients spoke highly of him. He did not disappoint. After enduring two years of pain, epidurals, and physical therapy before visiting Dr. Laratta, I wish I hadn’t waited so long to seek him out. Dr. Laratta has given me my life back. My recovery has been slow but my leg pain is gone. If you’ve ever experienced leg pain due to nerve compression you know how miserable it can be and you forget what life is like without the unbearable pain. I believe that there’s no one in the eastern US that can do what Dr. Laratta has done for me.

After some miscommunications with the staff we were able to get the FMLA paperwork resolved. Dr Laratta has been great throughout.

Dr. Laratta is the best surgeon ever. He not only done a great job, he has been super good to me!

Dr. Laratta is very attentive, sympathetic. Explains everything to my understanding. He treats you like family. I will recommend him to anyone needing this type of medical care. I love Dr. Laratta.

Loved the time Dr Laratta took to listen to me about my pain. Also was amazed that he genuinely seems to care about making sure I was taken care of after my surgery. Great Dr would highly recommend him to anyone with neck or back problems.

Was well pleased with the surgical outcome. I have much improved use of my hands.

Cancelled my appointments two times and I'm in pain he doesn't care about his patients.

i seen Dr.Laratta on March 15th .his office was suppose to set up a test for me and was suppose to see the Doctor again on april 15th but his office never set it up . They told me they were going to set it up again . Had an appointment again on May 11th . they called me on May 10th told me my family doctor was suppose to send a referal . I think in 3 months time someone could of called me and told me that after the first appointment .and didnt . Something is wrong somewhere . My pain managment dotor sent me to him because hes suppose to be real good . But if he doesnt have people in his office to take care of things then hes in trouble . So in the mean while i hurt all the time my nerves are shot and i dont have a life right now 'Now im put off again till next month .so you need to be sure of his office staff before connsidering Dr. Larratta . ITs not him im worried about its his office manager and all of them

I would like to express how friendly and profession the entire staff as well as Dr. Laratta. He was very detailed and showed me the issue with my spine from the MRI disc. I would be very happy to recommend the group to anyone who needs their specialty.

I was nearly paralyzed neck down. Following cervical surgery in late September, I am nearly back to normal. I have some leg strength and balance issues which are improving but I am hopeful that physical therapy will help that.

I feel very please with Dr. Laratta and what he did for me. I am sorry for waiting so long to have it done. I feel awesome he did a wonderful job. Thank you Dr. L!

Great surgery by Dr. Laratta. Took away my pain. Great bed side manner. Easy to talk to. Would highly recommend
