Left me crippled
It's been a few years, and I waited to post a review because I was told, over and over by Dr. Ferraro's team that I'd recover completely. But I haven't. January of that year I had an MRI of my spine - everything was fine according to my records with UPMC. By that October, when I was still experiencing back pain, Dr. Ferraro told me that I would absolutely need a laminectomy. The surgery went badly and when I awoke, I felt numb from the waist down, but Dr. Ferraro had already left for his golf game. Throughout the day and night my husband and I told the medical staff in the hospital that the feeling wasn't returning. It took him a full 27 hours to get me back into surgery in which he discovered a hematoma. Then I got bilateral pulmonary embolisms. Today, years later, I suffer from breathing and heart problems, chronic pain and more. It's truly dismaying to see his good reviews on here - he must have really gotten good PR through UMPC. He gets to keep playing golf.

I broke my back in a car accident on black ice in 2000. After yrs of spinal injections & morphine, I went to Dr Ferraro & he operated on to fuse my L4 & L5 and grown new bone in my spine with a stem cell transplant from my right hip in 2008. I was greatly impressed with Dr Ferraro during my first visit and my opinion never changed through the surgery & all the Post-operative appointments. He was patient with my questions & clear information on my condition/prognosis. I HIGHLY recommend him!

We met with Dr. Ferraro and immediately knew he was the surgeon we needed. My husband had quite extensive lumbar decompression, laminectomies, fusion and hardware implantation. In 10 days he was pain free (pre op pain was gone in a day). Dr. Ferraro told us what to expect (and his staff were so patient and encouraging)—and everything went amazingly well—including results! Highly recommend Dr. Ferraro and his team. Very skilled surgeon.

I consulted with Dr. Ferraro to review my back condition and prior medical records. His approach was one of a no nonsense approach and subsequently directed me on the surgical procedure he would perform to alleviate my issues. I am now pain free and able to pursue all of my prior outdoor passions. Many thanks go out to his staff and nurses at the Spine Center. They were excellent and I would highly recommend them.

Successful results with my laminectomy and L4 &L5 surgery Sept. 15th. Explained everything very well. Did not rush at appointments and made me feel very comfortable. Answered all my questions. He was present at every appointment and followed up with checking on my recovery with x-rays at each appt. I would definitely recommend him to family and friends.

My husband and I both recently had microdiscetomy performed by Dr. Ferraro. He is superb. He has an excellent bedside manner. He was easy to talk to. He was very understanding of the pain that we were both experiencing and he did whatever he could to help with that. We were able to get an appointment with him in just a few days after MRI was performed and then only a couple days after that he was able to perform the surgery. He is wonderful. What an excellent benefit to city of Johnstown!
