I initially went to Dr. Lupa-Laskus for a 2nd opinion re a COPD diagnosis. She ruled that out and treated me for other pulmonary issues. She also ordered periodic CT scans of my lungs. In the 2nd year of seeing her, she noted a change in one area of my lung and sent me for a biopsy. She caught very early stage cancer and I lost one lobe of one lung with no chemo or radiation needed. I will always be thankful to Dr. Lupa-Laskus for her diligence and keen observation. She is a very competent and caring physician.

Avoid Arizona Pulmonary Specialists and Dr. Laskus
This is an indifferent and unresponsive pulmonary practice! My wife has central sleep apnea. Dr. Laskus spends most of the encounter obsessively typing in her computer. The patient is then relegated to a nurse practitioner for subsequent appointments. An inpatient sleep study was conducted after overnight oximetry at home. First an oxygen concentrator was prescribed. The practice exercises no patient advocacy with the 'durable medical device' supplier, which delayed delivery for over a month. Then a CPAP was to be the fix instead, with minimal guidance about connecting the oxygen concentrator to it or not. The CPAP low oxygen data is not monitored between appointments. Meanwhile the OSCAR online software containing the data is unknown to the NP, who couldn't interpret what was visible on the patient's computer. A Dr. Ruzi barged in; the useless appointment was taking too much time! I displayed my frustration. My wife then received a letter dismissing her as a patient. Stay away!

Avoid this indifferent and unresponsive pulmonary practice! My wife returned there early this year after having seen Dr. Ewa Lupa-Laskus for an unrelated issue years ago. She was diagnosed with central sleep apnea, which is a brain rather than an obstructive cause of ceasing to breathe while sleeping. Dr. Laskus spends most of the encounter obsessively typing in her computer rather than focused on the patient, who is then relegated to a nurse practioner for subsequent appointments. A inpatient sleep study was ordered and conducted after an overnight oximetry at home. First an oxygen concentrator was prescribed, but the practice exercises no patient advocacy with the foot-dragging "durable medical device" supplier that depends on the practice's referrals for its business. They delayed for over a month in providing it. Then a CPAP was determined to be the fix instead, with minimal guidance and direction on connecting the oxygen concentrator to it or not. Meanwhile the data reported by the CPAP is not tracked by the practice and is only viewed at an appointment, and then only the minimum level of available data is seen. The patient is left to sink or swim on his own and is essentially unmanaged. Appointments are relegated to the nurse practitioner who is not even familiar with the online-available OSCAR software that provides detailed information, night by night, on apnea events, oxygen levels, mask leakage, etc. The last straw was an appointment, again with NP Amber Vercelline while the physician continued unseen for months, that was completely useless due to the NP's unfamiliarity with the OSCAR software and data which were available on the patient's computer, which was brought to the appointment. A Dr. Ruzi entered the exam room to interrupt the encounter to complain that the NP was with us too long and was needed elsewhere. I vented my anger and frustration at this treatment that terminated what had been a useless rather than an illuminating office visit by banging my notebook on an examination table, which he did not appreciate. Several days later a letter arrived from the long unseen Dr. Lupa-Laskus, dismissing my wife as a patient because their policy on behavior had been violated. This place is indifferent, unhelpful and a poor, useless excuse for a supposed provider of patient care.

Highly recommend
Dr. Lupa-Laskus is very thorough and truly takes the time to educate and listen to her patient. Amazing chairside manner and truly cares. She does not rush the appointment. She went above and beyond making sure my Mother could be seen by an Oncologist right away. We are so grateful to be under her care.

Brilliant with a side of kindness
Most patients of Dr. Laskus are dealing with life-altering illnesses. Most are looking for a doctor who knows about their illness and can offer treatments that will, at the very least, give them comfort. Dr. Laskus does these things and more. She answers questions so sometimes runs a little behind schedule. When it is my turn, I can ask my questions. She also shows up when needed. She came to the hospital when a lesion on my lung vanished. She attends meetings with other doctors to advocate for patients. She shows up to translate when needed. I have a life today because she worked aggressively to locate and identify the cause of my illness. She follows the treatments and is always kind.

Direct, knowledgeable, good communicator
Dr. Laskus saw my husband at Scottsdale North hospital this week. I found her very knowledgeable. She is a good listener and doesn't beat around the bush. She had 46 patients to see on her rounds but still took the time to give us the info that we needed.

The office is very prompt and friendly. They are always willing to schedule an appointment quickly if needed. Dr Lupa-Laskus spends as much time with you as needed and makes sure to go over her evaluation of you and makes sure you get a written copy of the appointment. She is friendly but firm and no nonsense in her treatments. She is as concerned with limiting the amount of medications you need to achieve the desired results. I cannot speak highly enough of her and her staff.

This office illegally requires a social security number in order to make an appointment. They are clearly not updated with current law so how in the world could they treat me effectively.
