Dr. Wogu gave me hope
Dr.. Wogu is personable as well as brilliant. He performed spinal cord surgery which no other physician considered. After six months I am walking better every day.

Do Not Put Your Trust in This Surgeon
Although this individual may be a talented technician, more than mechanics is involved in being a good physician or surgeon. We were referred to this surgeon and the hospital which gives him privileges by another hospital emergency room. He discussed my sister's fatal diagnosis in the most cruel and insensitive terms in front of her and other patients. He said that a second opinion was pointless and wasteful. He then directed her treatment in such a way that a second opinion from the glioblastoma clinic at Stanford Medical Center was impossible. He promised that tissue from her biopsy would be sent to Stanford for a second opinion. It was instead sent to a pathologist in a nearby county. He is arrogant and difficult to understand. His hospital privileges should be revoked. Please do not entrust yourself or a family member to this man.

Good experience
I was referred to Dr. Wogu by my primary for a severe L5 S1 herniation. My experience was pleasant and professional. He was able to fix my issue with a microdiscectomy that we were able to schedule quickly. He was kind, thorough, answered all of our questions, and he explained everything in detail including the surgery risks. I am now 5 weeks post op and doing great.

Had to have more surgeries in the same year . Had my third back surgery at Keck Medical center at USC to remove 75 percent of the hardware that Mr wogu put in . Really believes he's God and no bedside manner and treats his nurse's like there not worthy . But the nurses we're a higher calibure than himself. The worst wouldn't recommend my dead grandma to him .

Worst doctor
This doctor thinks he is God he likes to think if he sees you and its workers comp you are automatically a liar and drug addict. He didnt take my advice when I told him I was allergic to morphine and gave it to me in surgery resulting in a seizure then told me he took my license and reported me as an epileptic. I had to seek another doctor to clear me to drive again. He is absolutly the worst you will ever experience.

Thoroughly Impressed & grateful to Dr. Wogu
A burst fracture to my L1 vertebra Christmas eve '23 required fusion to L2-L3/T11-T12 vertebra with 10 screws & 2 rods, which Dr. Wogu performed @8pm Christmas day. He explained my options clearly, saying I'd walk in 2 days, walk out of SVRMC in 5 days, & that he'd work with me in 2024 to become 100% healed. This still seems impossible given the myriad risks & sheer complexity of this 4+ hrs. spinal surgery. I walked in 2 days, & out of SVRMC in 5 days, off all pain meds, pain free, issue free, & thoroughly repaired. 1 month later & I am forever grateful to Dr. Wogu & his incredibly kind, thoughtful, diligent, organized & competent staff. Dr. Wogu is a no-nonsense, straightforward surgeon & visited me each day just after my surgery. I Can Not Overstate how talented, competent & highly skilled a person must be to successfully perform such a surgery. Future patients should understand how lucky we are in Slo to have a neurosurgeon with his skillset, & an SVRMC staff with such competence.

Not professional
Dr. Wogu has no bedside manner. He yells at his patients and thinks he can do no wrong. He thinks it’s okay to belittle people. The man has a major God complex. He left certain information out to protect himself from my last surgery. Make sure to ask questions and get the information you need.

Empty waiting room should have been a sign!
This doctor comes in, sits down and begins looking at my MRI in front of me and tells me that he's not impressed. Never reading any MRI notes from several MRI's in the past year. Then, begins to explain to me that I have an opioid addiction, and tells me that my back pain is not producing the amount of pain and discomfort that I claim to be in. The 1 time visit was probably the biggest waste of time in my life. No professionalism or empathy from this doctor. Enter at your own risk and believe the majority of the other reviews!

This is NOTHING to speak of his staff who was so kind, helpful, and supportive (why there's two stars) but if you ever have back pain and are referred to Dr. Wogu in SLO you'd be better off going to a moose if you want your back pain addressed. Useless information and insults is all I left with.

The receptionist acts like she’s the doctor, even dispensing advice she is not qualified to give. Dr. Wogu is arrogant and hard to understand. He operated on me, and I was worse off afterward. I wound up having corrective surgery by another doctor.

Horrible dr. Made me feel like a liar acted like my pain was made up because I'm on workman's comp. Before I even went into the office the case manager warned me about him. Even though 2 other Dr's disagreed with him and told me different. I said ok I'm glad my spine is OK but why does my leg go numb and I have shooting pain in my lower back he said I don't know maybe it's not real. Seriously don't want meds I just want to know what's wrong with me

My ER docs chose Dr Wogu and I’m so thankful they did! My right leg had quit supporting me and I was in extreme pain. I was lucky to be inserted into his schedule the next day. He explained everything that was going to happen in a clear and concise manner. He would repeat if I asked him to, as he does tend to speak quickly. Pretty sure it’s because he thinks so fast! He took a long time repairing my back(L2 to L5) with rods and screws and making sure all arteries etc. we’re connected properly. He visited me every day in the hospital and sees me regularly for progress. I’m 4 months post-surg and am out of my brace, walker and now walking without my cane. I have been driving for a week now, and feel absolutely great! He’s knowledgeable, kind and caring. His office staff is very helpful also!

I went to Dr Wogu for a pituitary adenoma. After the first MRI, he explained my options and recommended a 2nd MRI to judge growth. After confirming it was growing he performed a transnasal resection. It went like he said. I was in the hospital 72 hours. Some reviewers are put off by his straightforward style. But when you need instruments inserted into your cranium, experience and skill is all that matters.

I interviewed Dr. Wogu before becoming a patient. I asked specific questions of what exactly he would do to my back. How he would do it, and how he would keep my spine protected from surgical accidents. and what I should expect (after surgery and long term) as an outcome. I know firsthand the craftsman skills he uses that are so critical for a quality outcome. As I committed to go with Dr. Wogu, he required from me my commitment to do as he will direct me to do after the surgery. He showed that he was going to do his best by me, and that my care to follow specific guidelines afterwards was just as important for my complete recovery, in other words, it wasn’t the money he wanted, it was the best possible outcome for me. The hospital recovery was very comfortable. Six months later I’m standing tall, fully functional, and working on PT. My sincere gratitude, thanks, and admiration for Dr. Wogu and all his staff. I’m so lucky. Thanks also go to Sierra Vista Hospital for great care.

He is an amazing Dr. I had my surgery 3 weeks ago and I’m already going back to work. He knows what he’s doing and has fixed me completely. I would recommend him to anyone! His office staff is amazing as well! My surgery was to repair my upper spine 5/6 6/7. Spinal stenosis. I was unable to feel my fingertips or my left leg. As soon as I woke up from surgery I could feel everything. He’s amazing!

Dr Wogu is very abrupt and to the point. He doesn't mince words. I was not looking for a doctor with a good personality but for one with knowledge and skill. Dr Wogu did a 5 fusion laminectomy on me and I did not like his personality one bit! That said, he did a beautiful job and I refer him to everyone I know. I needed a great doctor, not a friend. He is an EXCELLENT doctor in my opinion.

Dr. Wogu has been helping me with various physical ailments for years. He is professional, extremely knowledgeable, and advocates strongly for his patients to get what they need without delay. He explains things clearly and gets right to the business of your situation. I have always known him to be kind, appropriate, and up to date on latest research. He advocated for me when another physician seemed to be using an old procedure and did what he knew was best. He was correct. I will continue seeing him and referring people his direction.

Unacceptable. My wife had emergency surgery. She was left bedfast in extreme pain. He refused to permit the medical staff to remove the staples and insisted that the patient be transported to his office , a lengthy, unnecessary imposition. After examining the wound he demanded another visit. The staples were finally removed by a hospice nurse. This DO has been denied privileges at the local hospitals. Reject him if you have any alternative.

I have had 16 spinal surgeries over the last 30 years, three of them done by Dr. Wogu. His arrogance, never checking in post-op, lack of respect for the nurses on duty, failure to listen and anger are sufficient reasons not to recommend his services. This is just a partial list of bad behavior, but I think, enough.
