Excellent retina specialist
Dr Malik is very thorough with her evaluation and explains condition very well. She takes time to walk you through the procedure. I am receiving injections in my eye by Dr Malik. The procedure is completely painless. She and her staff explains all post-injection symptoms and instructions to manage it. She has a very kind and professional demeanor

Extremely knowledgeable physician
Dr. Malik is an extremely talented physician. I used to see another doctor in OCLI at Oceanside for years who has left the practice. He diagnosed me with diabetic retinopathy even though I kept telling him I do not have diabetes. I was advised to see Dr Malik once that doctor left OCLI. Dr Malik examined my retina carefully and asked me questions regarding my medical history and listened to me with great patience. I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis in my chest 8 years ago. Dr Malik diagnosed me with Uveitis related to sarcoidosis, ran some labs, and started my treatment immediately. I was legally blind before I came to Dr Malik. My vision is now back to 20-20. I can drive again and I recently applied for a new job. I started my new job today after almost a year of not being able to work. I am so grateful to Dr Malik for bringing my eyesight back.

I drive or train to wherever Dr. Malik is
Literally... I follow Dr. Malik because she is an amazing retina doctor and best bedside manner ever. She is now on Long Island at OCLI where I drove 1 hour to see her. She saved my vision last year during a retina tear scare. She is calm and she has special soothing powers during my ordeal. The waiting room at the Woodbury location was a bit of a wait... about 40 minutes... but staff was extremely nice and each office staff was pleasant, competant, and performed tests quickly so I could see the doctor. OCLI is very lucky to have Dr. Malik and I'm very pleased by the care from her and OCLI.

Excellent surgeon
Dr Malik performed my retinal detachment repair recently. I had completely lost my vision in that eye when I came to her and was terrified. Dr Malik explained the procedure very well including the post operative care and recovery process. She performed my surgery immediately. I always wore high prescription glasses and had millions of floaters since the age of 25. I have recovered 100% vision and see much clearer than ever before. I am very much satisfied with her care and highly recommend her.

Very Caring
I was very scared when I first got to my appointment with Dr. Malik as an optometrist told me I had a stroke in my eye! Dr. Malik was very reassuring, and initiated a treatment which has greatly improved my vision. Dr. Malik saved my sight, and she was very kind!

Good Doctor
I feel very comfortable with Dr. Malik as my physician. The previous retina surgeon I saw had poor bedside manner and was inattentive. Dr. Malik was the opposite. I would recommend her for your care.

Love Dr. Malik!!!
When I was told that my sight was in danger due to Geographic atrophy, I felt stuck. I had no Idea what to do, who to see, or what my prognosis looked like. Dr. Malik was there every step of the way and got me started on a treatment protocol which has stopped the progression of my disease. Without Dr. Malik, I think I'd be blind by now. I don't know what I would do without her. Her staff is amazing also. You are in good hands with Dr. Malik.

BEST RETINA SURGEON EVER!!!!
Dr. Malik is the premiere retina specialist in my opinion. Dr. Malik was incredibly thorough, attentive to my needs, and ensured that I left my appointment understanding my prognosis. Dr. Malik recommended only the most current and successful options for treatment of my complex retina condition. I feel that Dr. Malik ALWAYS has my back. I can only speak highly of her and her team.

Had a relatively serious eye problem with substantial vision loss that was caused by other non-eye factors. Dr. Malik partnered with me through the entire process and I couldn't be more grateful that she was in my corner the entire time (holiday weekends included).

I would give zero stars if I could.
Dr. Malik insisted I needed a specific procedure, not giving me any other options and pressuring me to get it done that very day rather than taking time to research other opinions. I had to chase her down the hall for necessary aftercare instructions that she had no intention of giving me. Months later, the procedure has failed. Apparently the procedure she did is rarely successful long-term for patients in my age range and that is the sole reason I now have to get another surgery. Dr. Malik was also consistently very late (over 2 hours one time) for every appointment and very rude. If you value your the health of your eyes, RUN far away and find a competent doctor.

Terrible Experience – Nov 10, 2023
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Malik?
I was referred to Dr. Malik for a detached retina and retinal tears. Horribly rude, long wait times, and did not spend an appropriate amount of time with me. Even worse, she did not present options for treatment, insisting that I needed a procedure that I have since learned is typically ineffective for patients in my age range. I now have to get additional work done as a result of her poor decision. After the procedure, she walked out of the room without providing necessary aftercare instructions that affect the outcome of the procedure. After the technician confirmed that no one else had those instructions for me, I had to chase her down the hall to get information. Dr. Malik has no business practicing medicine. I would never trust her to work on my eyes again.

I made an appointment for a routine eye exam and after three cancellations and a two hour wait, Dr. Malik spent two minutes with me. What a disgrace. If someone had spent a little time with me on the phone, I would have gone to someone else.

I went to her with my son who had a torn retina. She performed an in office, same day laser surgery. My son, who is 18, kept telling her I hurt and she was telling him it didn't! Dr. Malik was rude, insensitive and unprofessional. She didn't take the time to explain anything. No after care instructions, no real communication, just left the room when she was finished and didn't return! Not a good bedside manner at all! Staff was not knowledgeable and we waited an hour before we were even seen.

Dr. Malik has been my retina specialist for over two years. She has been treating me and my husband for age-related macular degeneration. She is very knowledgable and one of the most professional physicians I have come across in my life. She is very compassionate and has excellent bedside manner. She also listens to you and takes the time to answer any questions or concerns that you might have. Dr. Malik is outstanding and I highly recommend her.

I would not recommend Dr. Malik, I found her to be very rude. I have never met a doctor as rude as her and one who didn't want to take the time and answer my questions. Dr. Malik has no bed side manner, she only wanted to speak and didn't care if I understood what she was saying and certainly didn't want to take the time for me to ask questions.

This was our second visit with Dr. Malik and both were very positive. We were impressed with the information she gave us concerning the procedure, and in a manner in which we understood what was about to happen during, and after surgery. She answered all of our questions to our satisfaction. She shows compassion and concern. Excellent bedside manner. I am sure this will continue at the follow-up appointments we will have post-operatively.
