Awesome Experience!
I had a hip replacement done on March 10, 2025 by Dr. Chalnick and I’m doing great. He explained my condition and surgical approach in layman’s terms. He answered every question, was patient, thorough, kind and made eye contact while speaking to me. I never felt rushed or dismissed. I’m so pleased with my experience and would recommend him to anyone looking for a qualified surgeon. Thank you Dr. Chalnick.PS..he did both of my husbands hips in 2002.

Outstanding Surgeon
Dr Chalnick recently performed a non-routine complex hip replacement surgery which resulted in a wonderful outcome. I strongly recommend Dr Chalnick to anyone requiring hip replacement surgery. My post operative recovery went extremely well and I feel wonderful and grateful to have found such a highly skilled surgeon. The office staff was always friendly, and his surgical coordinator was organized and extremely helpful. I can't say enough about my personal experience.

not a doctor for me, surgery is a big deal
Experience was crummy! I expected better. He was decent I guess, not overly friendly but that was not important. I was not impressed with his explanation of my condition or symptoms. 'just felt he wanted to get to the point where my insurance would ok surgery. so I am going elsewhere. If I need it fine but he won't get the business.

Working off old practices?
Told me I need a new hip, which I expected, but he is going to go in from the back not the front? None of my senior friends who have gone to the hospital for special surgery in NYC have had their buttocks cut open in the last decade. OLD SCHOOL. VERY LONG RECOVERY. Going for my second opinion to someone who has kept up with best practices. And his demeanor could be a little less brusk. But they all think they're god lol. And after COVID they are making up for lost wages so think about that before you let em book you for surgery. Shop around.

Meh… rushes in & out. Not big with communication
Staff was ok, great x Ray tech Calvin. The doc I could take or leave. I like a doctor who can say what’s going on. I’m educated, I expect to get educated on my condition by someone who should act like he knows more than I do. He didn’t say much. And another thing- in this world a doc who’s fat giving patients advice to lose weight when they already have Ortho issues in their 60’s? Come on doc. You can do better and maybe practice it first if you’re gonna preach. I am not saying he’s a bad surgeon- just saying I’m not letting him cut this guy.

Dr. Chalnick operated on me for total left knee replacement in March of 2017. I have since seen him for gel injections pertaining to my arthritic right knee. He’s concerned about his patients and with very professional with great talent which makes him top in his field and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing knee surgery and, in fact, I have many times.

First off I am 2 years into have my total left knee replaced by Dr Chalnick. Couldn’t be more unhappy with the results! My range of motion is very limited and have lots of pain. Before setting surgery I went through the typical extended period of (many months) of office visits etc. I did all the per-therapy, lubricant shots, cortisone shots etc. had all the X-rays and MRI’s done for review of my damaged knee.. Set up and had the surgery Dec 2019 with Chalnick. The day/morning after surgery Chalnick stands over my bed and says all went well but.. I needed to put in a “big boy” knee replacement! That’s all he said.. didn’t explain what “big boy” meant just that is is a larger implant but nothing about the limitations I still encounter now. Through my 8-9 months of seeing Chalnick he never once mentioned different size knee replacement/ sizes! Three / four months after surgery my knee bend/extension was terrible. Needed to have a MUA / manipulation done.. not fun and not happy. Beware

Dr. Chalnick performed a total left hip replacement for me about 2.5 weeks ago. I had no pain or bruising post op; only some soreness and tightness. He is an exceedingly abundant and beyond skilled and knowledgeable surgeon. He is also extremely thorough in his work. He is very good at listening to my concerns and putting me at ease while answering all my questions. He is an amazing and dedicated doctor who truly cares about his patients. I am so blessed to have him as my surgeon. I waited seven years before I met with Dr Chalnick because I didn’t think I needed the replacement. Then within three weeks my hip deteriorated quickly so as I couldn’t put weight on it and was forced to use a cane to stand or walk. I am so thankful that I found Dr Chalnick and he was able to do the surgery for me. If you are in pain or are just having tightness in the hip flexor and groin like me, then do not hesitate to make an appointment today with Dr Chalnick. He is awesome! Let him help you.
