Dr. Dara Holder, MD

I was skeptical about this visit given the previous reviews. However, I was feeling desperate for help so I accepted the appointment. I am a retired registered nurse, and in my opinion Dr. Holder is an excellent doctor. She listened carefully to what I had to say and her after visit notes reflect accuracy. She asked appropriate questions and she gave me feedback. She gave me a verbal follow up treatment plan. And she prescribed a medication that is helping me so much. I am so glad to have her as my doctor.The only downside has nothing to do with her. She wanted me to follow up in three months, but they could not fit me in until four months. Also, there was a 45 minute wait time, but seeing how she was thorough with me, that is understandable. She takes her time in order to get it right.

I am not sure where other reviewers went, but I saw her today at the Urology of Virginia Clinic. The place was fantastic. the staff was pleasant and smiling. When I talked Dr Holder and her PA I felt like I was important to them. My appointment was almost exactly on time, everything moved along like they were ready to do what needed to be done. I have no complaints and would recommend her and the practice to anyone.

Terrible experience with Dr. Holder. I have a legitimate medical condition with history and she would not sign off on a medical leave of absence due to my medical condition causing me to be out of work. I will most likely be fired from my job for being absent due the medical condition. The doctor won't even talk to me or schedule an earlier appointment after I called and explained the issue. I even need physical therapy and everything and it's like she doesn't even care.

I do not recommend this practice, as it is simply disorganized and unprofessional. Unfortunately, they do not keep appointment times, as I was seen over an hour late today for my follow up & my 1st appointment was seen 45 minutes late. Dr Holder also did not communicate things regarding my care properly. They keep telling you to "come back," for a follow up, but every time this is a $20 copay. Now I have to wait for results from my scan and Dr Holder told me to "make an appointment, " or to "check the portal for my results." I absolutely will not make another appointment and pay again. Seems unprofessional to me, because if something is abnormal, a Dr is supposed to call. There are many other urologists in the area--find another one!
