Excellent surgeon
Dr Hoh did my cervical fusion in 2013 when I was having difficulty finding a good neurosurgeon where I live. One neurosurgeon said he could do nothing for me. I think Dr Hoh greatly improved my pain and ability to function. He did what others either refused or were unable to do. I am having problems with my neck again and I am running up against a similar problem with doctors. One pain management doctor said I didn’t need pain management. I am considering requesting an appointment again with Dr. Hoh and am confident he will do the right thing.

Waste of time. Disappointed with poor evaluation.
As a cardiologist with 30 years of both academic and private practice experience, I feel that I have ample experience to comment on the evaluation that I received at the University of Florida Neurosurgery department Gainesville under the direction of Dr Daniel Hoh. From the outset emails were not responded to. Check in and the Radiology process were courteous and well performed. That is the end of my pleasurable experience. From that point forward, it was a complete waste of my time. Next was my experience with the Neurosurgery department. I was evaluated by a PA only who did not seem to know how to properly do a neurologic exam or do a proper history. Then the neurosurgeon came in, never once laying his hands on me, or evaluate anything other than make me walk forward and backwards across the room. In the preceding short period of time, he had evaluated the x-rays that were just taken and MRIS that i brought and conjure up a diagnosis. The diagnosis again was based on a sub-optimal

Dr Daniel Hoh misdiagnosed me and said it was a typo, written in multiple different places, multiple times. I caught it, not him or his staff (Greta was extremely condescending and acted like I was wasting her time by asking a question). He was planning on doing a fusion in the wrong place and completely ignored the discectomy he should’ve been focusing on as well. A typo can had deadly consequences in the medical field and I’m so glad I caught it because it was in so many places and now, after he made me wait all these months, I know he was planning on doing the wrong surgery, and was going to ignore multiple elements of the right one. I feel like I dodged unnecessary surgery! A typo? I would not trust this man with a scalpel!!!

As an M.D. subpecialized in Spine Injuries and PAIN MEDICINE for three decades, I was transferred to UF Hosp./Shands --SPECIFICALLY to see Dr Hoh --with severe post-operative Segmental Instability and spinal cord compression and uncontrolled spasms of back and hip muscles that render me bedridden. NO CONTACT with DR HOH, DESPITE MRI and CT PROOF of cord and nerves involved. INEXCUSABLE LACK of DIRECT EXAM OF PATIENT referred for HIS CARE.

I had a very negative experience, with Dr, D Hoh.. I heard about him from several sources, but my outcome, was not great. My husband and I are both retired medical people. I could not in good conscience, give him a good review..I would encourage you, to seek a second opinion.. I am sorry I didn't go to a very conservative neurosurgeon, in my area.. When he asked why I chose to go there, I said , "because I made a foolish mistake"..

The other reviews tell the story - look at the negative ratings and you’ll know what kind of doctor he is. Run, (do not walk) away as fast as possible. I can’t even imagine letting this guy operate.

Dr. Hoh is the worst doctor I have ever seen in an emergency room setting. He has zero compassion and no bedside manners. He basically told me I was lying when I went to the ER for irregular menstrual bleeding. He told me women see blood and just think they are feeling faint. I’ve never felt unheard or not believed by a doctor so this was a shock to my mother who was with me and I. This doctor literally made me cry and sent me home feeling worse than when I came in. Please avoid him at all costs, I’ll be taking this complaint to the top with Cedars Sinai for this horrible experience and this terrible doctor.

I was referred to Dr Hoh for surgery. My back was painful. I was fearful wondering If I might be paralyzed after surgery on my back & nerves. I had questions and concerns. Dr Hoh has seen & heard it all before and he doesn’t want to hear it from me. For example I asked if the surgery would help? His response was (I don’t know, will it?) Confusing to say the least. When I asked another question, he became rude & said (Hey, you came to me I didn’t come to you!) Needing to have surgery preformed & against my better judgement, I had it done. The surgery went well & I was hoping to have the two other surgeries to my back as we had discussed in his office. He said to call back in 4 to 6 months to set it up. Which I did. His secretary called me back & said he isn’t going to do the other surgeries. I asked why? I’m confused. I said he said to call back? He isn’t going to do the surgeries! No explanation. I found another neurosurgeon. Would not recommend this uncaring MD.

After having 3 unsuccessful back surgeries and seeing numerous neuro and orthopedic surgeons I was quite anxiety ridden. For some reason after seeing Dr Hohs credentials and training at the cleavland clinic I felt like he was worth seeing. I only saw a couple reviews, one negative in which the gentleman stated if you want to be talked to like a child he is the Doctor to see.(Accurate) My wife and I drove almost 2 hours to UF and after our experience with Dr Hoh my wife and I dumb founded.

Highly satisfied with Dr. Hoh, who saw me for spinal stenosis, a rarer kind not due to disk issues. Having completed both neurosurgery and orthopaedic spine fellowships at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital, he had a unique insight into my diagnosis. Although a highly trained and qualified and intelligent surgeon, he was amazingly patient with my questions and with great answers. I had researched my situation, and he was willing to engage and discuss in a thorough manner. Complete trust in him.

Excellent bedside manor, was very patient explaining all options available regarding my spinal stenosis, disc fusion, rods, exercise to heal, walk, walk, walk! Dr. Hoh was not pressing for surgery, but explained this as one of the options. My surgery was very successful and I highly recommend Dr. Hoh. Outstanding surgical team and Nurse Greta Weeks after surgery follow up was beyond excellent.

We found Dr. Hoh, Greta and Angie to be wonderful. Dr Hoh operated on me and the results, fantastic! I walk without limping and my back feels great. Dr. Dan, Greta and Angie, each one of them were wonderful to work with. Dr Dan took plenty of time explaining my condition, surgery and recovery. All questions were answered! When we needed something, Greta and Angie were just a phone call away. We had a great experience with Dr Dan and company.
