Dr. Dan Heffez, MD

Dr. Heffez and his team truly saved my life. After being told by my Kaiser team that my chiari and tethered cord were not severe enough to warrant surgery, I sought a second opinion with Heffez and that was probably the best decision I have ever made in my life. I had Chiari decompression and tethered cord release 13 months ago and although I don’t feel perfect, my symptoms are vastly improved. Prior to surgery I was using a walker, in severe pain, and felt like I was under water (literally) at all times. Dr. Heffez was very kind and explained things clearly in a way that made sense to me and made me feel comfortable proceeding with surgery. There seem to be reviews about both the titanium plate and his bedside manner, I had zero issues with either of those things. Not sure I could have kept going with life in the state I was in prior to surgery, so I’m extremely grateful that I found this team and was able to get treatment.

I was so grateful for getting an appointment quickly with Dr. Heffez. I appreciate the time that he took to explain my Chiari with me, discuss a plan and allowed me to ask questions.

I received better testing for my health condition in this 1 visit with Dr. Heffez and his coworker than I did from all 9 surgeons combined (no one in my state, Indiana, specializes in this). Dr. Heffez pointed out another spinal condition I have that has never been brought up by any of the 9 surgeons. It was a dream come true to see someone who gave me factual advice, who didn't dismiss my health problems and concerns, and by doctors who treated me with respect. I have talked to so many of Dr. Heffez's patients and they all love him. I've watched his seminar that is on YouTube many times and saved many of his publications I found in my college library. I think he's such a smart doctor and you can really tell he truly wants to help the people he works on. THANK YOU! I hope one day I can get a good decompression by you and your team of doctors. I won't let anyone else do future surgery on me. Thank you for validating me.

I went to see him about chiari malformation related symptoms or at least I thought they were instead he told me that that was not the problem but told me the real problem and how to fix it

Dr. Heffez was able to identify my issues after many visits to several doctors. He was able to address my symptoms and offered corrective surgery to hopefully reduce my symptoms. I'm post surgery 14 days and healing well and although it's still too early to know if my issues have been corrected, I'm hopeful that I am on the right track to a healthy and full recovery of my problems. Dr. Heffez is a matter of fact kind of doctor and I appreciate his honesty while still showing he cares. Dr. Heffez's team has been wonderful from the beginning. Always there when I call with a question or concern.

Awful. Doesn't listen, had limited knowledge of the condition and was dismissive. Left with no answers, no follow-up, and an incredibly rude doctor.

Dr. Heffez performed a multi level cspine fusion on me. Now I hate to write reviews. However, Dr. Heffez denied me a very critical follow up appointment. My recovery was not going well at all. He returned me to work. My job fired me. A very physically demanding job. Now I have multiple levels of broken hardware. Than to add insult to injury, my insurance overpaid. (I actually have a check to prove it) yet Dr, Heffez his staff has sent hypothetical bill to collections. Now I am left with a lifetime of pain worse than before the surgery. I also have a mark against me on my credit score. Thanks Doc.
