Excellent
Dr. Johnson and Cassie L. McCray, PA-C, are excellent practitioners who listen to what their patients have to say, and offer several options, once testing is complete. I had successful surgery to remove and replace my C4-C6 disks on April 25, 2023, and m,y recovery went extremely well. I have a small scar on my neck that is hardly visible. When they found out that both my sister and husband had passed away 6 months from one another, their compassion was so touching to me, and their concern was real. When they told me to reach out if I need anything, I have NO DOUBT that they truly needed it! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them!

Excellent doctor and team
My first impression of Dr. Johnson was his professionalism, honesty, and warmth. Actually, that was my impression of everyone I met at the Neurological Institute at Swedish Hospital. My surgery was scheduled for May, 2023. However, prior to that, I needed the assistance of Dr. Johnson and his team to fill out forms regarding my leave of absence from work and short term disability insurance. I had also planned to take a trip overseas before I knew I was to have surgery, so I need forms submitted to get a refund on my plane ticket. This required hours of sending forms back and forth for Dr. Johnson’s team to fill out. They never made me feel as though I was imposing on them.I finally had surgery. The next day I got out of bed and felt immediate relief from tingling in my legs and feet. I have gone on to have a successful recovery and am back at work, able to lead a productive life without chronic pain. I owe it all to Dr. Andrew Johnson and his amazing team.

Saved my son's life
Dr. Johnson had to perform an emergency craniotomy on my 18 year old son. He was amazing. He not only saved his life, but he was instrumental in his care after the immediate surgery. He is amazing.

Caring, gentle doctor
Dr Johnson is a very caring, professional, gentle doctor. My lumbar surgery by Dr. Johnson really gave me a new lease on life as they say. Prior to my surgery I was barely able to walk and the pain was intense. Although the surgery was intensive, my recovery was swift and complete. I am so thankful that I found Dr. Johnson. I would recommend him to anyone who is in need of spinal surgery. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Dr. Johnson!

I am extremely happy with Dr. Johnson regarding the results of my surgery. I would recommend Dr. Johnson, and his team for the way I was cared for to anyone, family, and friends. I would also like to give a special thanks to the anesthetist that played a major role in my emotional and mental well-being before the surgery and made sure that I felt safe in a such delicate surgery. Thanks to everyone in the hospital that was involved directly or indirectly in my surge. Maria Hitt

My confidence is restored!
I couldn't be happier with my back surgery results! I was struggling with nearly overwhelming pain in my lumbar spine for years, and went through pain relievers and injections with little effect. Dr. Johnson performed successful surgery and afforded me not just pain relief but a new outlook on life. Thanks Dr. Johnson for your outstanding work !

Neurosurgery follow up REVIEW !
I am an 82 year old retired litigation attorney. Few years ago I started having nerve irritation problem on my hands and feet as well as back pain. Last year I consulted with Dr.Andrew Johnson at Northshore University Neurosurgery about my problem. After an MRI evaluation Dr.Johnson determined that I needed a decompression surgery to relieve the discomfort and lower back pain. I agreed to the surgery. Dr.Johnson did the surgery in March of this year. I was so impressed by Dr.Johnson's professionalism, compassion and skill in preparing me for the surgery. Surgery was so successful that I had to stay in the hospital only one night after the surgery. Recovery was fast. I recommend any one who is contemplating a neurosurgery procedure to contact Dr.Andrew Johnson. He is, in my opinion, one of the best, in the filed, in Chicago. Tom V. Mathai

Wonderful neurosurgeon!
Out of all the neurosurgeons in Chicago, I am so thankful that I chose Dr. Johnson. I had surgery on my back last December and he did a marvelous job!! My pain is gone, something I never thought I'd be able to say. His staff is also great! Cassie, Yanny and others that I can't recall their names off hand, but they are very attentive and so helpful!!! I'd like to thank Dr. Johnson for all he's done for me.

Hello , I had a bad fall at work , a few weeks later . I started having severe headaches went to the hospital . Doctor Johnson was my doctor after a CAT scan found out that I had blood in brain . He decided to wait a few weeks noting that the operation was risky and had its own dangers . But the blood on brain did not go away . I'm very happy to report that , I did have the operation it went smoothly Dr. Johnson's a great doctor . I have no more headaches I feel great thank you very much . Monday the 31st I went in for an evaluation . I had taken a CAT scan a week earlier and my brain was clear of blood . Thank God again thank you Dr. Andrew Johnson

I finally went to see Dr. Johnson after having severe right lower back pain and radiation to my hip for a few years. I had so much pain I couldn't sleep or walk without severe pain. I tried other treatments and nothing worked. Dr. Johnson operated July 2021 and today I am returning to work. The severe pain is gone. I am able to walk without pain and sleep like a log. I highly recommend him and his office staff. They are excellent!

Dr. Johnson is an amazing surgeon and a very kind person. I had so much pain and trouble in my arm/neck shoulder and after seeing many different specialists and having gone through different types of treatments, I was referred to Dr. Johnson. He was able to figure out the source of my pain and after several visits with him, he performed a cervical fusion surgery, without any complications. I was amazed at how well the surgery went (and so was he, as he told me after), and how caring and compassionate he and his staff are. I highly recommend Dr. Johnson. He is a genious, in my opinion, but also so personable, which is a great, and necessary, characteristic for any physican to possess. My life has change since the surgery and I am no longer suffering like I was for many years. Thank you, Dr. Johnson!
