Horrid surgeon
This surgeon failed me. Had a distal femur replacement after an auto accident. His surgery failed immediately and was revised 6 months post-op. I had issues with the 1st revision within the first 6 months. It had loosend by then. I wasn’t told of the loosening until 6.5 years later. By that time, I had revisited this hospital numerous times for functionality issues of my left leg. I found out, at a later date, and by a different surgeon that the implant was loose the entire time.

Outstanding
I've had bone-on-bone arthritis in both of my knees for several years. When it came time to explore knee replacement, Dr. Hogan came highly recommended by several medical professionals (my main ortho doc said there were only two surgeons in the entire state he would refer me to and Hogan was one of them). I was able to schedule my initial appointment very quickly and everything from the check-in to my exit went smoothly. I felt Dr. Hogan was direct and completely honest in explaining what was involved and what to expect - pre-surgery, recovery, and rehab. I am now six months post-op and couldn't be happier with the results. I feel like I'm getting my life back! I'm preparing to have him do my other knee in the near future.

Top notch!
Dr. Hogan was very polite and explained what we should expect, was very helpful with all of our questions. Bedside manner is impressive. He said he would be there at 9 to do his rounds, he was. Im sure thats not always the case, but still impressive! I'm very picky about providers and usually find a fault (even wait times if anything!) We were at our 5 week appointment early, we were taken right in, shown the old and new x-rays, all of our questions answered. What was more impressive, my mom was walking like she was in her 20's again, yet she's in her 70's.

Dr. Hogan surgical results left me with having to have a hip revision with a different surgeon nine months later. Legs were not even was the least of the problems he created. So upsetting to think about I won't write everything that he did wrong. DO NOT SEE HIM!

Dr. Hogan did knee surgery on me, 3 weeks later my knee gave out and I fell, I was taken to the Parker hospital where they exrayed and said they couldn't find any bones broke gave me pain meds and sent me home with my son. I could not walk. A week later I had an appointment with Dr. Hogan, my son took me I told him I was in aexcruciating pain and could he do an mri or CT scan. He said come back in two weeks it will be ok. That was the last time I seen him. That night I went to bed and when I woke up the next afternoon in the hospital having emergency surgery as my knee had over a gallon of pus in it. Have had 4 knee surgeries and l have lost so much time the last three years and my leg will never be right again. I have never heard from Dr. Hogan at all. I wish Drs. would listen to patients as we know when something is wrong with our body.

I was referred because of hip pain and when I saw him he didn't want to discuss anything else except doing a hip replacement. He was abrupt, almost rude, had an intern with him that was pleasant, and showed some emphathy. Told me to call the office when I was ready to do the surgery, and left. I called a couple of days later, said I wanted to do the surgery, someone in his office told me that he said I needed to schedule another appointment because we didn't "discuss surgery." I said, wow, and nope. If he can't remember a conversation, less than a week old, I can't trust him to perform my surgery.

Dr. Hogan did Right Hip Replacement 16 months ago. I now need a Revision Surgery because of his mistakes. I have now consulted two top surgeons. They agree the prosthesis was mal-positioned and the wrong size; too small. 16 months of pain! AND- Nurse over-dosed me on narcotics at Aurora hosp. location. I was comatose, blue, with strokes in both eyes. Dr. Hogan "laughed" when I asked him if I had brain damage after I regained consciousness. Hospital never took responsibility! Shame on UCH!!!

In 32 years I've never had a more negative reaction to a physician. I was referred to Dr. Hogan after persistent hip pain 18 months post replacement. He literally walked into the exam room stating "I don't understand why you are here or why you want to see me." It was downhill from there. He flatly told me there was nothing wrong with the hardware and ended the exam. No other possible causes. He was condescending, patronizing, and flat out rude. I would not ever recommend him to anyone.

Over the last six months Dr. Hogan replaced both of my hips. He and all of his staff were meticulous in diagnosing the problems - osteoarthritis - counseling me on the options available and implementing my decision. Dr. Hogan was especially attentive in explaining the procedure, accurately predicting pain levels and the course of recovery, and spending as much time as needed to put my concerns at ease. He has an excellent bedside manner and actually listens to his patient's concerns.

Not even close to the level of care demonstrated by most UChealth professionals, Very little goal oriented effort, Did very little diagnostic or information seeking before concluding , left me with no direction whatsoever to alleviate severe hip issues. Had to go to another doctor to find out cause of extreme pain . This doctor could care less if I needed help or not, he was a counsult for options in hip issues and was of no use whatsoever.
