Dr Craig Derkay told us in 2005 that our son required numerous unneccesary surgeries with long term side effects and sadly never recommended removing dairy from his diet, even though I told him I thought dairy could be the culprit for our son's constant runny nose and ear infections. As it turns out, I was right. In 2015 we found out our son has a severe dairy allergy. All of those scary surgeries could have been avoided if Dr. Craig Derkay would have warned us that a dairy allergy does cause chronic runny nose ear infections in children. My recommendation is to remove dairy from your diet (if breastfeeding) and/or from your infant or child's diet for 8 weeks before agreeing to ear tubes or removal of adnoids and tonsils. Surgery is a luctrative business, removing dairy is free.
