After performing an aspirate endoscopy, I was diagnosed with SIBO methane. He said it would be “challenging” as my levels of bacteria “were unheard of”. He also said he was going to do everything he could to restore my quality of life to the best of his ability. We were thrilled to finally have a diagnosis. I was dismissed by many medical professionals for 15 yrs! I cried happy tears, regained lost hope. We profusely thanked him. I was ready to start antibiotics and get better! We assumed this was the answer; he gave us no reason to think otherwise. After treating me with 3 torturous rounds of antibiotics, spread over many mos, I was no better. My husband and I couldn’t understand it and researched. We found that SIBO methane has an antibiotic resistant organism called archaea. We asked him about it and he confirmed! Now you tell us?!?! We were shocked, upset and couldn’t believe it. This same scenario is occurring with his other SIBO methane patients!
