Excellent Neurologist!
I have seen Dr Henkel for 2 years now. He is very personable and knowledgeable. The support staff communicates extremely well and are very nice when you’re in the office.

I visited Dr. Henkel after experiencing seizures in my sleep, but my experience has been discouraging. He comes across as inattentive and speaks so quickly that I can barely express my concerns. When I shared that the medication he prescribed might be causing agitation and aggression, he dismissed it, suggesting I see a psychiatrist instead. This left me feeling unheard and invalidated. Appointments feel rushed, lasting under seven minutes, and I leave feeling brushed off. As a father and husband, I am deeply concerned about my health and need a doctor who listens and works with me. Unfortunately, Dr. Henkel seems more focused on moving through patients quickly than truly understanding their needs. I’m considering switching neurologists and hope this review encourages him to prioritize patient care. No one should leave a doctor’s office feeling as hopeless as I have.

Awful stay away
This so-called doctor works for workman's comp! First visit wouldn't let my wife go back with me because I'm a WC patient but other normal patients we're allowed to bring their husbands and wives back with them! Had two prior test done by reputable doctors that stated I had nerve damage and drop foot! This so called doctor didn't even know what drop foot was ! WC found a good Dr. here especially when he doesn't know what he's treating so he can tell him I'm 100% !Tried to blame my injuries on old age! Two prior test from two different reputable doctors specialized in the field showed nerve damage that caused foot drop! He's looking for the big paycheck from WC to tell them that there's nothing wrong with you so they don't have to pay you any money for your injuries! He got mad because I didn't want to take the pain pills they make me sick, didn't even take them after my surgery , if you don't take these pain pills leave my office You're not in pain therefore you don't need me!

Awful Dr. do not waste you time or $$$
The staff is awesome but Dr. Henkel is a subpar Dr. You cannot ask him a question or challenge him as he will not answer and just walk away. Sadly he is on the Workers Compensation list and make his money from them. He just hands you a bag of RX. He gave me meds for Migraine and I have never had a migraine in my life. Don't waste your time and money with this DR?

I made my appointment according to His availablity approximately 2 weeks in advance. I drove from St Petersburg leaving sufficent time to arrive 30 minutes early as per the offices request. I completed all required paper work NLT 9:30 am. My wait was short in the lobby, but once the vitals were taken I sat alone for about 9:38 until past 11:00 am. My appointment was scheduled for 10:00 am. More than an hour past my appointment time. So I left. I am sorry If I had not kept my appointment there would have be a finacial penalty, but I guess it only goes one way. I can not speak to Doctor Henkles expetise and knowledge of his craft. But promptness speaks a lot about any professional.

Great neurologist!
I have been undergoing treatment for migraines for years which I received in my prior state of residence. I recently relocated to Tampa and Dr. Henkel was on the list of recommended neurologists. His staff was able to schedule an appointment for me quickly--the staff were professional, courteous and very efficient. Dr. Henkel is extremely knowledgeable about the various treatments/therapies for migraines (many different options for patients); he is professional, skilled at procedures/injections, is sociable and accommodating. My transition of care from my prior neurologist was seamless-- I am so pleased to have been able to establish my care with Dr. Henkel!

Not best doctor I've seen
Saw this doctor for newly diagnosed migraines. He did not look at my brain MRI. Said he would do injections and nothing else. I've not tried any meds so far because my FP doc want a neurologist to treat me. But he will not prescribe any meds and can only do injections 4x a yr. I'm having severe pain that has totally altered my life. And I have to go into office between injections so he can ask how I'm doing, which he could do easily on phone. This whole process seem to be a major money maker for him.

Arrogant, Lacks Compassion & Rude
Visited with him yesterday & am blown away by his bedside manner. He was dismissive, rude, lacked compassion, defensive, impatient and unprofessional. Hubby asked if I could have a concussion, and he responded 'what's a concussion, since you're trying to tell me how to do my job'. He rx'd me meds within the 1st 5 mins without asking about my medical history (which included 2 additional concussions this yr). He dismissed me at every turn. He'd ask me a question & before i finished answering, he started with another question. It was clear he didn't want to help me. I waited 3 wks to see him & was desperately hoping he'd help me with my condition. I left crying & devastated to be treated so poorly. If you are looking for help, you may want to look elsewhere.

He probably can handle a headache. For anything more complicated, absolutely not. Did not even recognize the name of a quite common neurological disorder.

He has a great bedside manner and was pleasant; that is the OLNY nice thing I could say. He was solely interest in recommending Botox w/0 taking the patients full medical history in consideration. My concerns were disregarded. I brought of concerns that my pcp and other neurologist had but he simple brush them off. I wouldn’t recommend you go unless are only interested in doing Botox and not receiving any other treatment or recommend. There was no testing done and a request for medical records.

The worst doctor. Unprofessional, not thorough, and is only concerned about the co-pay rather than the patient. If you're looking for a good neurologist, Dr Henkel is NOT one.
