Sincere, professional practice
I've been with Brian & Ned for more than 20 years as they have monitored my prostate. They have been thorough, careful and considerate. I have the utmost respect for their opinion and do not doubt their expertise. I have had 6-8 biopsies, couple of MRI scans in the course of monitoring. They have always taken the time to explain everything and patiently answered any questions I had. I highly recommend them to anyone

Outstanding
I found Dr. Brian Saltzman to be kind, gentle, thorough and thoughtful. I was most definitely misdiagnosed in the ER and had been suffering in pain for almost 3 weeks. He took the time to explain all of the hospital data and a precise plan of action. I have seen the same medical physician for 41 years who recently retired. Dr. Saltzman demonstrated this same work ethic and lifetime commitment to his profession.

Condescending to women
His assessment of my situation was inaccurate, I discovered, after hearing from 2 other specialists in the field. He did a procedure which he said was generally 'well tolerated' but was quite painful. He had very little compassion for post-menopausal women and the impact of decreased estrogen. I agree with another reviewer who urges women looking for a urologist to find another doctor.

I have to agree with another reviewer. Dr. Saltzman is definitely condescending and disingenuous. If you’re a woman looking for a urologist, don’t go to this doctor. He made me feel so uncomfortable and violated. I don’t even want to describe what happened because it upsets me.

I have never written a review but today's appointment with Dr Brian Saltzman motivates me. He is the most dismissive, condescending, aloof doctor I have ever met. He did not even do the exam thoroughly. He didn't tap on the area where I stated I have pain, only on the sides of my body, yet he later stated that my kidneys are in the exact area I have pain. He had already decided that I didn't have a UTI and stated that he didn't see one in the urine sample I had given that day, but I had not given a urine sample yet so it was impossible for him to see any results. He talked in sing-songy way, placating me and not taking me seriously from the start. Then he sarcastically stated that he would be delighted to have me go for an ultrasound. I can't even describe how weird his affect was, so detached and condescending and disingenuous. Very frustrating to try to interact with a doctor who isn't really there.

I had an appt scheduled for this Friday. On Monday morning they call to tell me it is cancelled. No good reason. “Dr has decided to travel.” You can reschedule for a Friday if you like, but we can’t guarantee that he’ll see you. The life of a specialist who doesn’t care about his patients shows up in his cavalier commitment to appointments and in hiring office staff that are shockingly rude. Check out the other reviews on other sites. The office staff is consistently sited as rude.

Disappointing. Office staff and scheduling mistakes, and then today a dispassionate brush off. Not attentive and unhelpful as situation became more complex.

Dr. Saltzman is a model of competence and compassion. He is respectful, as are his staff. His office (at Newton-Wellesley Hospital) is small, but that compromise the care he provides.

Thoughtful and considered recommendations. Patient focused and compassionate, beyond simply condition focused. Precise in descriptions and recommendations. A model for medical long term guidance and care.
