Dr. Brian Jones I, DPT

Dr. Jones informed me he couldn’t treat my son because my son has difficulty verbally expressing pain (autism). He dismissed the nonverbal cues (limping, taking off shoes, not wanting to walk) as “sensory issues.” He also implied my sons problems with gait do not significantly impact his life in comparison to his other disabilities. He told us all of this BEFORE he evaluated my son’s gait. I had to explain that a team of doctors felt PT was necessary and they had advised me to seek treatment before he begrudgingly conducted his own assessment of having my son walk up and down the hall and stand on one foot. His only advice was “I guess you could give him a verbal cue and tell him to walk differently,”. His dismissal of recommended treatment, failure to conduct a thorough assessment, and lack of helpful suggestions highlight his disinterest in providing comprehensive care. I strongly advise individuals with cognitive disabilities to seek treatment elsewhere.
