Saved my way of life!
My regular eye doc said I had macular degeneration and never bothered to explain it. Called a friend and he suggested going to the retina institute. I was assigned Dr. Bradley Smith. After his examination he said you do have macular but don't worry about it. It is so slight it is not a problem. Then he said I do want you to get your carotid arteries checked asap. I didnt understand why but did get tested that day. My primary doc called me with results and said he would like a more intensive test. After that test he called and said I had over 90% blockage in my left carotid artery and should have surgery asap. Surgery in October of 2023. Today, February 2025, just released by Dr. Smith. All damage to eye has healed. My carotid surgeon, Dr Peterson at St Lukes said without the surgery, which ended up being 99% blocked, I would have definitely had a stroke. I thank God every day for Dr. Bradley Smith and the expertise and professionalism of him that saved me from having a stroke.

Dr Smith is by far THE BEST in the business. He is very personable, he takes his time and answers ALL your questions, so if you have to wait a little longer than you want just remember he is the BEST, and he does treat all his patients with respect. I would and have recommended him to friends and family members.

Dr Smith and the entire staff at the Retina Institute see many patients on a given day. That can result in a hurried and seemingly not complete investigation of the reason for the visit. I have had two appointments with Dr. Smith and crew and can state unequivocally that they, as a group, take their time, do not hurry the patient, do all the tests and investigations that seem to be required and absolutely instill confidence in the patient that what the Institute has done is correct.

Highly recommend Dr. Bradley Smith. I had a retina detachment a couple of years ago & was terrified when my opthalmologist in southern IL said that I needed surgery asap. My husband & I drove to St Louis on a treacherous, snowy nght. We arrived in SL about 9 pm & they were prepared. Dr Bradley T. Smith was my surgeon. He made me feel at ease before & after the procedure. Staff at Retina Institute was excellent & very knowledgeable. I am doing great...thanks to Dr. Smith & his associates!

A wonderful person and doctor. Caring, compassionate, bright and treats every person with dignity. This man is a highly skilled doctor of ophthalmoloy. Dr. Smith has performed emergency surgery on my eyes several times. I respect him and his knowledge and skills. Without his help, I would not see. Who cares about waiting a few more minutes in the waiting room when you know this man might be helping someone keep their eyesight? Thanks Dr. Smith for help!
