Dr Kumar wanted VERY FAST DECREASE in daily dose
Being a new patient, Dr Kumar unfortunately wanted to exchange what pain medication I was on at that time, for approx 1% of that daily total … all in one month! I inquired but he refused to allow a slower decrease in the doses. ~This is done so the body & the MIND can adjust Safely.~ WDs would be HORRENDOUS with a fast decrease in doses like that. He would’ve decreased what I take daily, exchanging that with (only) ~1% of that daily amt .. ALL AT ONCE. I questioned this also & was told that would not cause bad WD symptoms and only for a month or two, but it wouldn’t be bad!?!?!?? But I Knew that wasn’t true. I am sad to find yet another ‘pain’ provider who is disingenuous towards patients, knowing untruths have been told. Shameful.

Life Saver!!!!!
To anyone looking for a great pain management doctor Doctor Anil Kumar and the staff at Advanced Pain Management are top notch. I have been coming here for years. I just had my shots done this week on my knees. I get 1 steroid injection and 2 Hymovis gel injections and they have helped me so much. I must admit I am a huge big baby and was so scared at first, but Doctor Shiu and Amir work hand and hand to make the process as relaxing and as pain free as possible. My buddy Amir lets me hold his hand as Doctor Shiu injects me. If it wasn’t for Amir, I don’t think I could get through my injections without him. Where do get this kind of treatment??? No where!!! They have the best bedside manner and truly care about your overall care. The secretaries on staff their Alana, Shannon & Pam are always so good making your appointments and your insurance needs. The girls are always so funny & pleasant. Andy, who I see their for my follow up monthly checkups is always so caring and pleasant. In sh

No stars if it was an option
Anil Kumar, MD, worst Doctor I have ever experienced. All he was interested in was surgery with next to know no explanation. He was harsh and blamed every single health issue on weight. Barely knew me and told the secretary to set me up for surgery. I was very unhappy with this doctor and would not recommend him to anyone. Was making an issue that I did not even have and did not listen to what I had to say.

Mmj certification
He is the absolute worst. I had an appt for mmj certification at his office. I had a referral which I didn’t need but he asked for it. Mass health allowed 12 visits thst I knew I did not need. After all, It was only a medical marijuana certification. I got the referral and a note from my doctor. She described my condition as anxiety and adhd. Both qualifying conditions. He insisted I get a second letter and make another appointment to get it. I knew I had what I needed because I did the research plus’s my doctor gave me the referral. He just saw 12 visits and was trying to maximize his pay out. I said to him I have the qualified paperwork and he said “ do you think you will get certification in one visit no it does not work like that. He suggested I had ptsd and offered me ketamine aka narcotics. He asked me to get a ptsd diagnosis from my therapist. I never mentioned PTSD. I think what I needed was (qualification) to be certified. Not number of visits I have accumulated with you.

Your worst nightmare
Extremely negative environment that caused me to dread my appointments. Constant turnover in physician assistants had me reexplaining my condition over and over again. Wait times are often extreme. Communication with Dr. Kumar is extremely difficult at best. He has little regard for patients long term well-being. He violated his duty of care with me, leaving me in distress and needing my PCP to step in to keep me from a serious negative outcome. I would give zero stars if I could. Don’t go to this doctor or allow anyone you care for go there.

I have been a patient of Dr Kumar’s for at least 10 yrs. He does everything he can to treat my Cervical Dystonia/Spasmodic Torticollis. Before finding Dr. Kumar I saw many specialists at the “Best Boston” hospitals and none of them have helped me as much as Dr. Kumar has!!! Being with this practice for so long, I obviously am happy with my treatment. The office staff are friendly, helpful and professional. They also do procedures in their surgical suite which is right across the hall! Bonus: plenty of free parking - No running around to different hospitals/offices & paying $20-$30 for parking...see if you get this with any other doctor - I think not ! I have recommended this practice to many people over the years And will continue to do so

I suffered pains from severe eczema for almost a year and I was unable to walk. I had been seeing a dermatologist, a podiatrist and my primary doctor and none of them helped me with my pain. Dr Kumar took one look at my feet and legs and told me I had to get to the Mass General Hospital emergency room ASAP. He also prescribed something to help me sleep. Two days later I went to the MGH emergency room and they immediately admitted me and as of today, 09/17/21, I am still a patient there and getting better. I think Dr. Kumar saved my life.

He is an awful Person asked me to bring my oxycodone and give it to him Unprofessional !!! He was dirty as well As the other dr who worked there , did not even have on clean suit saw him 2 times wearing the same suit both times and didn’t even comb his hair . Then I told him I have great fear of epidurals he booked it anyway I cancelled it . Even if I was not scared of a needle in my back I Would not get it there he was so dirty looking and asking me to give him Pain meds . Disgusting , the pic of him Is old he needs to be investigated . I think he is money hungry wanting to give expensive shots to Bill the insurance company . His office staff does not look like the pic !! It’s just a disgusting place !!! Honestly he was rude as well and the clientele there was scary . Stay away not a good DR then called my new primary to tell him To cut down my pain meds in thinking he is threatening to cut down pain meds to replace with injections . STAY AWAY !!

Doctor Kumar is not involved with each patient’s care. The team of physicians don’t communicate properly and there’s no true plan of action for each patient. Dr Kumar didn’t have any experience with my pain condition; he and his team then decided to focus on my Spine. I found that to be extremely odd and rather rude. I was given several Nerve block treatments without a local anesthetic. My first Nerve block was done incorrectly, but with anesthetic spray. I assume that they chose not to use the spray again in order to cut costs. I was told that I had to get these painful & unnecessary procedures if I wanted to be prescribed new pain medication. Urine tox screens are done in cheap instant result cups. No level test done—even after requesting it. I was told to quit my old prescription, “cold turkey” & once I passed the tox screen I’d be prescribed better medication. 17 days of withdrawals, no lab testing or blood work. They claim it’s invasive—I think they ment expensive!

AT FIRST, Dr. Kumar helped me tremendously with my severe back/knee pain. After 3 years of trusting Kumar to manage my chronic pain & succesfully treating my back pain with the right pain medication, I was finally pain free. My next appointment,Dr.Kumar randomly & wrongfully told me he won't refill my pain meds anymore because of the opioid epidemic. My drug tests were always negative, and he punishes me for the opioid crisis. Kumar had NO reason to mistreat a patient like this. I am devastated!

Dr Kumar was my last resort, surely there was a doctor out there who was up to the challenge of an inoperable back condition, he was sent directly from heaven, he is making it possible for me to do the things I enjoy doing and making it a little better to do the things I do not enjoy doing, but are necessary in life, and my treatment is on going, I expect to get better and better as time goes by instead of worse, without him, thank you Dr Kumar, with all my heart, Susan Willett

STAY AWAY! Rudest medical front office staff I have ever experienced. I was referred by my Dr. because this Dr. is in his network. They double bill you if you need an office visit and something simple like trigger point injections. Also If you do not go every month and only need a visit every 6-12 months they will drop you. Also when I wanted to go back they claimed I owed $250...never got one bill and paid every visit copay on a CC. I have proof but no one calls you back! Scammers!
