Chronic Pain – Feb 21, 2025

People in pain don't need a cruel doctor
Arrogant, dismissive, does not listen, cruel. Did not care that I have been in debilitating, chronic pain for a very long time. Made me feel like a worthless human being who didn't deserve his time. Do not subject yourself to the degrading and debasing person, he should not be in the business of caring for people who are suffering.

Great staff and great job by Dr Kowal
Dr Kowal has been working with me on my angliosing spondylitis. It has been very difficult and Dr Kowal is the first doctor that has taken the time to try several different options. He answers emails quickly wich has been great help in explaining pain. Also can not say enough good things about his staff. I come from out of state because I can not get the help I need In NY and his staff has been great in helping me with long distancev prescriptions and planning visits around my schedule. They are also helpfull when I have procedures they explain everything. Thank you for everything

We’re getting there
My pain is hard to manage as it stems from my c1, c2 facet joints which are bone on bone. Dr. Kowal has prescribed meds that help my chronic pain but they cause stomach problems. Next time we’re going for an ablation procedure. I trust him to find the area needed in my spine to relieve a lot of my pain. I won’t give up on myself and he’s doing everything he can to help me.

Yes. Excellent. He provided a complete and helpful explanation of the suggested procedures (RF nerve ablation and epidural steroid injection). Excellent prep and support team (Lahey does it so well!) 20 minutes and done. I am now pain free after months of extreme discomfort, and grateful for the excellent care.

He literally was in the room for two minutes didn’t listen to anything I said not even a sentence backed out orders of what I needed to do for a stimulator. I got his facet injections and it has left me in 100% times more pain Sent me to 1 ER in ambulance to RER in Boston. Which they finally found out the problem He was mean and compassionate and rude does not belong in pain management with absolutely no empathy he told me what to do which is left me an incredible painThat I have to suffer and my son has to suffer so next time he should listen to his patient it was absolutely the worst doctors appointment I’ve had in my life

This “human” if we can call him that, is just a disrespectful piece of trash. Theres a difference between giving a honest, and professional opinion, and out right disrespecting someone and not even spend the time to listen. Like i told his colleagues, he’s lucky someone hasn’t smacked him in the mouth yet for his disrespect. But this guy is just an a hole and doesnt want to help and is clearly just there to collect and go home. People like this guy shouldnt be doctors. Would give 0 stars if i could.

Kind of arrogant and was not only anti-cannabis (I understand he can't endorse it) but he was misinformed. Prescribed a medication, which was a possible interaction with a known allergy (learned from.the pharmacist), and then never returned an inquiry call to clarify if it was safe to take.

I don’t think any good words can be said of Dr. Andrew Kowal. I’ve never met a doctor that treats patients with such rude, aggressive disrespect. He harshly hurries you through an incredibly disturbing appointment with his vile mannerisms. I would give him a ‘0’ ZERO Star rating if I could and he doesn’t even deserve that. I definitely DO NOT recommend him as a possible candidate as a physician. I’ve never witnessed such unprofessionalism amongst such a respected profession as being a physician.

If I could give this horrible human being 0 stars, I would. He was rushed, mean, and did not address any of the reasons I was reffered to him. He further went on to lie on my official medical record, based on "a judgement call" not the labs and tests he had completely disregarded. Disgrace to the medical proffession.

I have been a patient of Dr. Kowal 's for many years. On average, I see him 3-4 times per year, for numerous procedures on my entire spine. Dr Kowal and his team meet and exceed my needs every time with their professionalism.

I went to see Dr. Kowal back in December for pain management for my neck. I have 4 screws and rods in my neck due to a fusion many years ago. When I asked the doctor for something for my pain he said to me " You've been in pain this long, you can deal with it some more". He has no compassion for his patients along with a serious attitude. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE!!! He is a disgrace to his profession.

I saw Dr. Kowal because of a back pain problem that wasn't getting better, despite several other specialist visits. After a thorough explanation of the imaging and what it meant, Dr. Kowal provided in-depth information for a long-term and short-term approach. 3 months later I feel much, much better. Dr. Kowal's staff is extremely pleasant and made the visit better.

Terrible; Waste of time. Very judgemental and his decision is predetermined prior to initial consult, you are judged by a piece of paper. If prescribed medication prior to visit he will have your info in hand.
