Trigeminal Neuralgia
From my first meeting with Dr. Rughani, I found him to be personable, kind, and very accommodating in all the questions I had for him. I had a very serious case of Trigeminal Neuralgia, and was in a lot of pain. I ended up having a brain operation called Microvascular Decompression at Maine Medical Center which Dr Rughani performed. I am now completely free of pain (which I had for over 20 years). This has been a life-changing event for me. I spent one night at the hospital, and went home the next day to start my pain-free life. I highly recommend Dr. Rughani to anyone who might have nerve pain. Give him a call....Perhaps he could help you too!

C4/C5 Vertebrae Neck Surgery
I went in with 10 out of 10 pain in my neck to zero pain the next day.Dr. Rughani exhudes confidence and has the surgeries to back it up. I was completely comfortable and trusting with his assessment and direction (surgery) in my case. Truly a miracle of modern medicine.

I did not get a full and complete picture of the consequences of the recommended neck surgery. One very important side effect was not mentioned until I was about to enter the operating room; others were minimized. I would be cautious with the information he provides and highly recommend getting a second opinion before proceeding.

Dr. Rughani was great. I had a herniated disc at L5-S1, and it was extremely painful. He was able to get me in during COVID-19 for a microdiscectomy in April of 2020. He was personable and reassuring, and I had a very good result. A herniated disc and the accompanying nerve pain in the leg is the worst pain I've ever had. I highly recommend Dr. Rughani to anyone facing the same condition. He helped me so much.

I am happy that the Dr removed has removed the tumor out Of my loved one’s head, but the fact that we had to wait for two weeks because we were not told about the results of that Pathology results. This was u professional and irresponsible on his part. I do not recommend this doctor because of the lack of communication.

Dr. Rughani performed a partial temporal lobectomy for a brain tumor my son had at the beginning of October 2016. This is the most competent, caring, reassuring surgeon I've ever seen and I've worked in healthcare for 20 years. He did an amazing job with the surgery, leaving my son with absolutely no neurological deficits. He also went above & beyond with taking his time with my son and I, we never felt rushed before & after the surgery. We always felt we were important & he was there for us.

I crushed a lumbar vertebra due to a fall and was taken as a Trauma Level 2 patient to MMC by ambulance from Rockport. Luck was on my side when Dr. Rughani was available to perform an emergency spinal fusion. His personal attention, world-class surgical skills, willingness to explain everything going on, and friendly demeanor all added up to a very fast recovery, pain-free within two weeks, and return to running in 5K races. If you have the luxury to pick a doc, pick him. Plus, super staff!

Update: Now that i have completed surgery I want to say that my initial evaluation still holds. He continued to answer my questions thoroughly. At the time of surgery he made me as comfortable as possible and what could have been a frightening surgery was actually interesting.I would highly recommend him to anyone.
