Highly skilled laparoscopic GI surgeon
Laparoscopic surgery is a great advance where the skill and experience of the surgeon makes a big difference. And it is frequently impossible to predict prior to surgery if an operation can be done laparoscopically, or necessitate an open (laparotomy) incision and approach. Pigazzi is an innovator and sought-after teacher in laparoscopic surgery who has used this minimally-invasive approach successfully where other surgeons would chose the easier yet more traumatizing (to the patient) “open” approach. I am very happy that my surgery to address a small bowel obstruction could be resolved laparoscopically by Pigazzi; the results have been excellent.

Doctor and Staff were wonderful
Dr Pigazzi and his staff were absolutely wonderful at a difficult and scary time. Dr Pigazzi was called in for a consult for major surgery while I was in the hospital. He clearly explained the procedure in easily understandable terms and discussed potential consequences. Fortunately he was able to schedule the surgery later that day. His staff made all of the arrangements quickly and efficiently. Needless to say the operation went well due to his skill. His staff, especially Katie Dong NP, has been and continues to be there as a source of comfort and information. She rapidly responds to emails and phone calls with reassurances. The office is efficiently run, with minimal waiting time. I was extremely lucky that Dr Pigazzi was my surgeon.

Confidence in him was immediate
Upon meeting Dr. Pigazzi, he understood my fears, and answered all of my questions with expert knowledge, patience, and compassion. My confidence in him was immediate, and when I expressed my desire to get the surgery done prior to the holidays, despite scheduling conflicts, he and his team made it happen. At the hospital, Dr. Pigazzi checked on me three times in less than 24 hours, and when I thanked him for all he did for me, he instantly gave credit to his team, which speaks volumes about his character. In addition to the blessing of being Dr. Pigazzi’s patient, I would be remiss to not mention his nurse Katie and the rest of his team. I spoke with many people on Dr. Pigazzi’s team throughout this journey, and every single one of them mirrored Dr. Pigazzi’s professionalism, expertise, and caring demeanor. If you have the chance to have Dr. Pigazzi as your surgeon, you will receive excellent care.

The best!
I cannot say enough about Dr. Pigazzi. He's the entire package, extremely talented, brilliant, and empathetic with the best bedside manner. I feel so fortunate he was recommended to me. I saw him for an intestinal resection due to my Crohn's Disease. He was extremely thorough and spent significant time discussing my case with both my GI and me before surgery. He listened to all of my concerns and took them all into account. One reason I saw him was because I hoped my surgery could be done laparoscopically, and with the complexities involved, there was no guarantee. However, I knew if anyone could do it, he would be the one that could. And I was right. In addition, everything he said in regard to what to expect post-surgery was spot on, from the recovery room to my one-year surgical anniversary, it's like he has a crystal ball! I cannot recommend him enough and while I hope I never have to go through surgery again, he would be my top choice if needed!

Diverticulosis of the sigmoid colon
I had Diverticulosis of the sigmoid colon and Dr. Alessio Pigazzi magically removed my sigmoid colon and 12 days later I am back in the gym working out lightly for the next four weeks until I’m completely healed. I had put off the surgery due to trips that were planned and I got in just in time as my sigmoid colon was attaching to my bladder turning into a fistula and Dr. Pigazzi literally saved my life. My name is Lawrence Daluz and I’m extremely grateful to have my life back

Amazing Doctor, I am so grateful to have found Dr. Pigazzi but very sad to find out he is leaving UCI. Not sure what to do do, it’s hard to find a colorectal surgeon as talented as HIM !

Hello Dr. Pagazzi. My name is Violetta Antonia Sorcini and one of your miracle stomach cancer survivors. Your passion and artistic creatives saved my life when all other professionals found me a lost cause. Almost 11 years later I am here and have given back by writing incredible sums of Grant's for the homeless and youth at risk. Thank you for taking a chance on saving my life, thanks to the City of Hope. The whole Sorcini family thanks you.

Dr. Pigazzi is by far the best surgeon we have ever encountered to say the least. My 52 year old brother was on his death bed and we were told to seek hospice. We didn't give up on him. The surgeon who did his original surgery was out of state. There wasn't a surgeon within the best hospitals that would take on the surgery my brother needed. Dr. Pigazzi was asked by another surgeon who wouldn't do the surgery for my brother. Dr Pigazzi without hesitation took on the complex surgery and my brother is doing better and in the healing process. I can only say that God sent Dr. Pigazzi as an Angel to take care of my brother. If it wasn't for Dr. Pigazzi's expertise in his field and willingness to take my brother case, my brother wouldn't be here today. Thank You Dr. Pigazzi you are a blessing to our family!
