I first met Dr. Mejia on or around June 30th He explained I needed a Whipple Procedure. He was calm, and communicative in his approach. Excellent “ bedside” manners. Attentive & thorough with all my questions. I believe he the best of the best!! I felt confident about the surgical team performing my Whipple procedure. I highly recommend this surgeon & clinic to everyone needing this done.

Liver Transplant Surgery
Dr. Mejia is on my Transplant Team and he is my Transplant Surgeon. He is always tentative to my pain level and fullness of my treatment. I trust him completely. His diagnosis was always 100%. Even when it looked like rejection, he assured me it was only medicine related. And he proved himself right. My date is Jan 31, 2023. I feel 100% brand new. Exercising, eating well and working again. At 60 yrs old, I have to remember the Liver is the only part that's new. I Thank God, my Donor & Family, My Transplant Team, my support team, my family and you for letting me share.

Great surgeon and person!
This surgeon is one of a kind. He made me feel calm every single time he was around. My robotic surgery went great. The 6th floor of Dallas Methodist is wonderful. I’ve never had that great of care from nurses. They were all so great from the time I went into the hospital til I left. Everyone was so caring and nice and went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. Dr. Mejia and team are great and I highly recommend them!

Dr. Mejia is a great surgeon I had a liver transplant on March 20th 2020 and so far I haven’t had any problems I feel like a whole new person at one point I thought I was a goner but thanks to Dr. Mejia and his crew I got another chance at life I also want to say that from the nurses to housekeeping they were all so friendly and helpful thank you for all that y’all do ??

My husband received a liver transplant June 30, 2007. Dr Mejia was his surgeon, and was not only excellent at his job, but was also very compassionate. I still remember how not only was Dr. Mejia exceptional, but so was the entire Liver Institute.

Dr. Mejia performed my robotic left kidney autotransplant surgery. He is brilliantly talented – yet humble, kind, and so caring of his patients. Couldn’t recommend him enough!

Dr. Mejia is an extraordinary surgeon and compassionate human being. He performed my mother's Robotic Whipple Procedure last year for pancreatic cancer. He is unique in his ability to problem solve and in the warmth he brings to his patients. He will calm your nerves by just walking in the room, I promise. He has the most amazing nurses surrounding him and continually works with the best doctors/specialists to find solutions. Dr.Mejia is precise, gifted, and truly invested in his patients.

I recently (Jan 2017) received a liver transplant at Dallas Methodist and Dr.Mejia was my surgeon. I am not happy that he only has 12 reviews and isn't rated at 5 stars. The culture of The Liver Institute is confusing at first, however the compassion of the providers including Dr. Mejia is 100 stars. Immediately following my surgery I had to tell him to go home - he checked on me often. It's not been easy, but I made it and he and his staff are why I'm able to type this review today. -JHJ

We will not recommend Dr. Mejia. His lack of concern in 1) urgency in scheduling the initial surgery (took from discovery of cancer before Thanksgiving to surgery day in mid January). 2) post surgery it was not uncommon to take 3 weeks to get results from followup scans. Mejia's office constantly passed the blame to someone else rather than taking responsibility for the delays.
